Apparently they have banned motorcycles in the area. The girl took a travel agent booked trip, took along a motorcycle helmet and the rest is a hoax.
On edit: I believe the girl too...but I believe her site has been taken down. I couldn't get it to work.

4. You have a point...
I was just reporting. I didn't say I believed the story. I just thought I'd share.

5. So who cares?
I saw the pictures. She wasn't begging money. I think she went there first and now the "travel agents" are chumming suckers. There are not many jobs in the Ukraine. Yes siree, a radioactive theme park.

6. I think the hoax report is a hoax
I truly believe this woman was genuine.

She wasn't peddling for money on her website and her motorcycle was in quite a few of the pictures.

I don't believe the hoax report.

Also, I believe there is a DUer who was mirroring her website.
I cannot remember who it was but I hope they see this and respond.

7. I just tried to go the web page.
It looks like it has been taken down.

I did believe this woman. I do not believe that it was a hoax. Her numbers of radiation levels were very realistic. They were not sky high, actually safe enough to enjoy a ride through the area. (I an accelerator lab where I am a person who has to do surveys of areas once beam is off to determine if the area is safe) From what I recall he numbers wouldn't have sounded off any alarm bells, though they are definitely not areas you want to spend any amount of extended time in.

9. I don't know what to think
I've seen a female US scientist (allegedly) debunk her claims on motorcycle bulletin boards that Elena subscribes to. The debunking sounds about right...but who knows. Regardless, Elena did get the word out. She has the same kind of bike as me, too. Good taste. :D
