Poll question: Best White Vocal Group of the 1960s?
By "vocal group," I mean acts that prominently featured voices singing in harmony. As such, I left out such great '60s groups as the Beatles, Stones, Who, CCR, etc.

As always, "Other" is an option, too!

I gotta say, categorizing the Beatles as a group that did not prominently feature voices singing in harmony - I can't agree, especially the early years.

2. The Byrds
But I think they were much more than a "vocal group." I love that 12-string Rickenbacker guitar.

4. The Brothers Four, The Lettermen,
And many others. The 60s were great for singing groups.

10. Of those on the list
The Mamas and the Papas edge out the Beach Boys for me only because I'm more of a fan of the music of the Mamas and the Papas - both we amazing vocally

12. Did "Dionne and the Belmonts" break up before the 60s?
That would be my choice

15. Dion DiMucci went solo in 1960.
As such, I'd be more inclined to include Dion & The Belmonts on a '50s vocal-group poll.

13. Beach Boys
Hard for those other groups to compete with Brian Wilson. Pet Sounds wins for them by itself IMO

17. I'm puzzled, NightTrain. Could you explain a little more...
why the Beach Boys and Byrds are "in" but the Beatles and CCR are "out"?

18. Of these choices, Byrds, but
I probably would have voted for CSNY. Or the Chad Mitchell Trio.

19. Tough one..............
I went through stages with The Association, Four Seasons, The Byrds, Peter, Paul & Mary, Beach Boys, Mamma & the Papa's and CSN & Y. I have to go with CSN&Y because they encouraged me to first pick up a guitar. All were excellent.
