9. It's a Brother Pretige circa 1965-1970
It weighs a fucking ton!

And all the accessories are with it too.

3. Excellent!
Some of my best finds were in thrift stores. I suppose I could actually thank Raygun for getting me into that habit...:P

5. I am addicted to them!
I found a very retro 60's danish looking dresser for 50 bucks, which I am going to paint to look even more retro. I saw the same thing at a store for over $2000. I also found a retro arm-less sofa for only 10 bucks. It will cost about 100 to get it re-covered, but since things that look like it go for $1000, I got a pretty good deal!

6. Yes, but do you really NEED a rice cooker? After all, a pot on the stove
works PERFECTLY.

(My rationale for NOT buying those well priced, slightly used gadgets that will only just take up space...)

11. Rice cookers
Edited on Wed Jun-09-04 06:05 PM by tridim
are very useful and make superior rice because the rice is steamed, not boiled. They also double as a vegetable and dumpling steamer. I've had the same one for 15 years and use it about 4 times a week.

7. I find unworn jeans and silk shirts all the time
for about $2. It helps to be on the small side - the smallest sizes have often never been worn, as people buy them and then can never fit them.

I LOVE finding my favorite style of Levis ($40 in stores, $29 at discount, or $19 from outlet stores) for $2, brand-new!

13. Back when I used to be a camera freak
I bought tons of Super8 movie cameras at thrift shops. I still have a beautiful French made Beaulieu 4008zmII that I bought for $10. It's worth about $400 even today.
