The State of Rock and Roll
Edited on Wed Jun-09-04 06:17 PM by Mr. Blonde
With bands like The White Stripes, Audioslave, Jet, and others it seems like things are going good for rock.

I'm just happy we are past the shitty times of Korn and Limp Bizkit being at the top and everyone wanting to be like them.

What are others thoughts?

1. There's a lot more available on independent labels.
I think there's lots of great music out there; sometimes you have to look to find it though.

4. Rock?
For me,,, there hasn't been much to thrill me lately, turned to country, the modern rock of the baby boomer's, and I'm only 40.

I agree the greasy looking guy whining about his parents at age 30 is a period I'm glad is over.

3. I've been going thru a phase where I felt like everything recent sucked
Edited on Wed Jun-09-04 06:22 PM by e j e
completely, and I binged out on old Grateful Dead, Boston and Yes albums from the 70s.

In my left hemisphere, I realize that this is a reflection of me feeling out of sync with recent music, it's not really that all recent music actually sucks.

It's like a musical midlife crisis.

(on edit) And my right hemisphere is definitely, absolutely certain that all recent music sucks.

8. I'm 46 and LOVE Robert Randolph
I saw him a few months ago up at the Iowa Memorial Union and he was very very good. Don't know if I'd classify him as Rock, but if you like it, listen to it. If you don't like it, don't listen to it. Simple. You see, I am to the point now I don't really classify music, I just know what I like. Like now, I'm having an old guy thing and listening to Zeppelin. The. Greatest. Band. Ever.

10. Rock 'n' roll or R 'n' B
I call it R 'n' R because it sound so much like the Allman Brothers Band.

11. I love the DVD
of Zeppelin, in fact I think I'm going to put it in now.

Sounds like fun right? Half assing homework, posting, and listening to Zeppelin.

6. I like most of those bands
cept for korn. I love audioslave, like a stone is one of my favorite current songs. I grew up during the 70's and 80's so i usually go back to The Cure, Morrisey and the sex pistols but it's nice to have some new actually good bands putting out good stuff.
