in the 80's i was a bouncer in a club on laclede's landing. one night, i refused to let in tito landrum because he was too young looking & had no ID. a waitress came over & explained what i'd done. i was really embarrassed. he was a perfect gentleman, & was waiting in the lobby for some friends to arrive.

i apologised, o/c, & sent his party a bottle of champagne.

I work near North Campus (but can't really afford to live in A2)
I love this area--yesterday I saw two wonderful bumper stickers, "Bush is a Liar" and "When Clinton Lied, No One Died"
alas, venturing out of a liberal area with DU bumper stickers can be dangerous to one's safety. Some man literally tried to run me off the road/hurt me because of my "Bush Lies, People Dies" bumper sticker

I work in the media so I won't put any political stickers on my car or wear my buttons to many places (don't want to be accused of bias and too many people know who I am) so DU is my outlet!

At the very least, for the look on Sheila Copps' face when he loses.

Gonna go with the NDP candidate, Dave Heatley, in Niagara West - Glanbrook. Sheila was my MP for years.

What bar does Willie Nelson hang at? We'll be passing through in a few weeks, and I want Willie to autograph my tata's.

And I thought I was the only Rocklander DUer.
Great to know there's at least one other.

I'm in West Nyack. :hi:

74. Isn't this a scene from an Ionesco play?
Edited on Thu Jun-10-04 01:30 PM by Snellius
Two people meet on a train and discover they come from the same country, live in the same town, on the same street, in the same house. They've been married for like 20 years.

Houdy, neighbor. I'm in Valley Cottage. The towns are so nondescript here I usually don't bother. I'm originally from CA, but I've loved it here and in the city for like 20 years.

On edit: the nondescript tag doesn't apply to Nyack, a quaint liberal bastion on the Hudson I recommend to all.

75. Valley Cottage? I don't believe it!!
Edited on Thu Jun-10-04 01:42 PM by Teddy_Salad
I just drove through there on 303 about an hour ago.

Yes, Nyack is great! I love that little place.
The Olde Village Inn, my local watering hole.

I'm originally from Australia, have been living here in West Nyack for 6 years.
I'm just off 59, near Buttermilk Falls at the arts center there.

And I thought there wasn't another DUer within 25 miles of me!
Amazin'!!

:hi:

76. You live in that house at Rockland Center for the Arts?
Edited on Thu Jun-10-04 01:56 PM by Snellius
I go to the center pretty often. My kids used to go to summer camp there.

Hope to meet sometime. I'll buzz if there's any interesting local events. Sarah Mondale, Fritz's niece who has a film production company in Suffern, has been doing a great documentary for like 10 years on the politics behind the building of the MALL (the evil empire of Rockland County). She's going to have another preview soon. I'll send you an email.

104. Yep, that's where I live
And work.

Summer Camp? Don't talk to me about it. :scared:
It drives me crazy. :silly:

Oh, the mall.
Yeah, I got here just as it was finished in '98.
I'm sure there were some dirty tricks and some money changing hands trying to get that monstrosity built.
It's disgusting, isn't it? What an eyesore.
But people flock to it. I can never get over how on a beautiful day on a weekend, the parking lot there is full of cars.
I don't get it and only venture there when I really have to and never on a weekend.

Well, it's certainly nice to know there's another DUer in the area.
I don't feel quite so lonely now. :)
