Woman Busted Driving With Pet Alligator On Her Lap
<snip>

PHILADELPHIA -- We've all seen dogs sticking their heads out of a car window -- but an alligator?

An off-duty police officer called for help in Philadelphia when he spotted a gator sticking its nose out of a black BMW. The car was stopped, and Danya Johnson was cited for having an exotic animal within city limits.

Police say Johnson was in the passenger seat of the beemer and the 3.5 foot reptile was sitting in her lap. One police official said Johnson was distraught when the alligator was taken from her.

1. I hope that alligator wasn't about to become a pair of shoes and a purse.

5. Boy, I'm glad my niece Katie isn't six any more
The summer she was six, we were planing our yearly trip to the Fort Wayne Zoo (it's part of the family reunion), and Katie asked "Are there alligators in the zoo?" Her Mom said, "Yes honey, there are alligators in the zoo."

Katie spent the next three days asking "Will we see the alligators in the zoo?" And all the adults and older kids assurred her that we would. On the trip to the zoo, Katie asked over and over if we would see the alligators in the zoo. Once inside the zoo, Katie asked over and over when we would see the alligators. To keep our sanity, we went to the alligator exhibit first.

The alligators were there, sunning themselves, sitting absolutely still. Katie walked warily up to the wall which surrounded the exhibit. "Can they get out of the fence?" she asked suspiciously. Her mom said, "No." Katie turned around and didn't give alligators another mention that summer.

The whole time, we thought she had liked alligators. She didn't. She just wanted to make sure she was safe from them.

The poor kid would have been traumatized if she had seen an alligator sticking its head out of a car.
