This really ticks me off.....
I am on a freecycle list. It's a list where people post things they want to give away. Interested parties then make contact and set up a time and place to do the giving. It's really a cool idea.

Well what has ticked me off right now is that someone on the list is wanting to give away a dog. The reason they are giving it away is that they are moving and claim they cannot take the dog. The poster does not indicate whether they are moving from a house to an apartment or out of the country.

In the break room at work is a picture of a very lovely looking cat. The information next to the cat indicates that it had previously been owned by a couple who moved into a new house. The man said he didn't want any cats in the house so the cat was taken to the APA. She was adopted by a woman who must keep the cat in a room away from other people due to a relative who is immune suppresant.

What ticks me off is that the animals did not ask to come into the lives of the people in question. Yet, when it became too much of a bother the animals had to go. Cats and dogs get attached to the humans in their lives. To rip them from a home is as stressful as ripping a kid from the only home he/she has known.

End of rant.

2. Yep
When some one adopts an animal, it is a responsibility, just like having kids. I'm not a fool, or a fanatical animal rights activist it just angers me when people seem to have so little conscience about getting rid of their pets when they become inconvenient.

I can personally attest to animals bonding with people. When I was a teenager we had a cat. First she was attached to my older sister, when my older sister moved away the cat latched on to me. When I moved out I figured she would be fine with my Mom and Step-Dad since that was the home where she was already anyway. Well the cat just went nuts. She walked around the house sniffing and crying all the time, would go into what had been my room and just wail. My parents made me come get her. My roommates weren't thrilled, but she was so shy she never went near them anyway and I vacuumed extra so there wouldn't be an issue with cat hair. The cat was more neurotic than most, but still, animals do get attached to their people....

3. I Almost Shatter My Molars Everytime

I hear the horrible HORRIBLE phrase "get rid of"

as in "Well. we're moving in May so we're going to have to get rid of the dog..."

"Mom says we can't keep it so we're going to get rid of the cat tomorrow."

Oh, GRRRRR!

4. I delivered a beautiful little dog to the vet today....
He'll see to it that she gets "home". She belongs to the most prominent family in my small town. They refuse to take care of her, but are unwilling to give her away (I asked, they refused). Hopefully, the Devil is building a new room in Hell to keep their evil asses.

5. This ticks me off too
A neighbor with 2 kids aquired a female lab/hound mix as a puppy and never bothered to train her. She went around stealing stuff off everyone's property and we all would complain, "Why don't you TRAIN her?" Laziness. They wound up giving the dog away instead of taking some time out to teach her how to behave. God only knows where she is now.
