1. I'm hoping for "deliciously twisted"
Come on. Tim Burton directing, and Johnny Depp as the very strange "Willy Wonka"? It has to be intriguing!

And, it's not a musical.

Although, . . .

The psychedelic sequence in the original "WWATCF" showed how twisted it can really get. (Yes, I did read Dahl's "WWATCF").

2. I was very happy ...

I was very happy with the Gene Wildman version. Apparantly, the kids were totally freaked out by Wildman in the "Chocolate River" scene.

3. That's the one I'm talking about.
My 17 year old niece wanted that for Christmas last year.

Too bad her parents didn't get a DVD player before that. I would have given her the DVD instead.

(Oh, not to be nasty, but it's Gene Wilder. I couldn't remember his name until you said Gene Wildman. Thanks.)

5. It is a similar situation with Oz film/book fans.
OZ Book fans = the movie candycoated the story's darkness. "Return to Oz" was closer to the actual story.

OZ Film Fans = We love the music!

................

WW Book Fans = the movie candycoated the story's darkness. We hope Burton's version of WW will be closer to the actual story.

4. Me too!
Word is Dahl wasn't too happy with his stab at the original screenplay, so Burton is doing this one with the family's blessing.

I can't wait to see what Johnny comes up with! :D
