A's win 6th in a row (6-1 over Pirates)
Edited on Sat Jun-12-04 01:39 AM by bluestateguy

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Tim Hudson allowed one run in seven innings Friday night to lead the Oakland Athletics past the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-1 for their season-high sixth straight win.

Damian Miller and Marco Scutaro each drove in two runs for the A's, who sent the Pirates to their sixth consecutive defeat.

Hudson (7-2) allowed five hits, walked two and struck out five, but he also hit three batters to tie an Oakland single-game record. He has hit 45 batters in his career, also tying Mike Norris for the most by an Oakland pitcher.

Hudson lowered his AL-leading ERA to 1.15 and is 4-0 in five home starts. Chris Hammond pitched a hitless eighth, and Justin Duchscherer threw a scoreless ninth.

What a great series that one was!!!! The nasty boys coming in from the bullpen and shutting down the feared A's hitters. Billy Hatcher collecting a hit in each of 8 straight AB's for a new WS record also set record for 4 game series by batting .750....and how about my man Spuds McKenzie...errr rather Chris Sabo...what a great role he played and how could I leave out Jose Rijo...series MVP!!!! Yeah you swept us a few days ago but who got swept when it really counted...GO REDS!!!!!

PS:
I have to hand it to A's fans who attend their home games...they really get into it...the atmosphere is more like a college football game than a baseball game...I really respect that!!!
