Saw Tortoise last night and the night before...

They are Ef'n amazing live. More and more I believe they may be the best thing going in rock music these days (not that that's saying much...). If they come to your town, my advice is: DO NOT miss them.

Just kidding. I've never heard of them. Are they a local band or do they only have concerts at large venues? Do they have a website?

They're from Chicago, and if you don't know them, you've got some catching up to do... Warning: They're sort of an acquired taste...probably not what you're expecting.

3. I saw them a few weeks ago

at the Metro Theater in Chicago. Amazing. I didn't even like their new album ("hated" is probably a more accurate way to put it) - really only their first one and "Standards" do it for me. But you are correct - live, they never fail to throw DOWN.
