Bob Boudelang on Reagan
A shameless vanity post....and the best line itn it this week was cribbed verbatim from an idiotic ditto-monkey on Delphi:

"At last the white males who built this nation and died for its freedom get to have a hero in Ronald W. Reagan..."

2. Guilty as charged....
It's a natural reaction to hearing similar stupidity used seriously by right wing ditto-monkeys.

10. It really is sort of scary how nuts they are...
Take the Reagan coverage...which kept skipping over pretty much all of Reagan's REAL record and inventing feats of derring-do for the old fraud that did not exist.

11. Hannity actually said that no one ever proved...
That Reagan gave the thumbs up to sell weapons to the Iranians and fund the Contra rebels, and that it was left-wing fantasy.

Which, I suppose, is why 138 people in his administration were forced to quit to avoid prosecution or indicted.

17. Isn't that something...
So in that case, arms were sold to the Iranians (and even worse folks) and the contras were funded out of the White House, and this senile old fraud was utterly clueless? Or ignored by his own people?

Yeah, there's the mark of a great leader, all right.

15. You rock!
I tangle with people who are just like Bob every day on the yahoo news message boards and you have them down to a T. I just linked to you on my blog (www.jasonbuckley.com/blog). Sometime for an experiment, I'm going to post one of your articles and see if any of the goons take it for face value and cheer it.

18. The Free Republic
actually had one up about a year ago, with the freepers praising Bob's acutity and intelligence....until somebody tumbled and they knocked down the thread.

I've also had libertarians take some of what Bob "said" seriously.

LOVE the 70s recipes...priceless!

Perry Como's show used to be sponsored by Kraft...and would always have a commercial with a recipe that seemed to involve Miracle Whip, miniature marshmallows and velveeta.....

9. Not only that...
But outside of the gungeon I actually run into DUers who don't pimp for Republican programs, don't post crap seriously from right wing cesspools, and actually have a progressive opinion.

It's pretty fucking amazing, isn't it?

7. Thanks...
Yes, all of those Reagan quotes are for real...and let it be remembered that he said "I don't recall" or some variant of it MORE THAN ONE HUNDRED TIMES during the Iran Contra hearings.

I have a great book somewhere that was published during the reign of St. Ronnie called "There he goes again" that listed many of the dirt-ignorant, dishonest or mean-spirited things he uttered on an almost daily basis.

despite that RR pet peeve ... may I say:

Well Done!!

"...move to Communist Canada if you disagree."

I'm inordinately proud of the Boraxo joke (for those not old enough to remember, Boraxo, which Reagan used to plug on Death Valley Days, was hand soap and not a headache remedy.)

28. So true...
Reagan always used to invoke Westerns...but the character in a western he always reminded me of was the corrupt rancher who had his men beat up Audie Murphy and try to run him out of town....

16. This "Gayo-American" thanks you, Mr. Benchley. And a question.
Excellent. And yes, the quotes are real. I think another real quote was "Once you've seen one tree, you've seen them all".

Where did you get the picture of Bob Boudelang? It's perfect...though it kind of looks like the actor who played Uncle Leo on "Seinfeld". :-)

23. Thank YOU!
Reagan also said, "Look, ask me what paper came to my desk last week and I couldn't tell you" and "You can't help those who simply will not be helped. One problem that we've had, even in the best of times, is people who are sleeping on the grates, the homeless who are homeless, you might say, by choice."

You might enjoy THIS (not mine, but a wonderful public service):

Skinner and his magic elves came up with Bob's picture....don't know where they found it....It does look like Uncle Leo, now that I think of it.
