A better way to walk.
Don't know why I haven't shared this sooner.
If you walk regularly for exercise, try Nordic walking.
It's a lot like cross-country skiing.

"Nordic Walking is packed with numerous physical benefits, easy to learn and is great fun, too! By adding poles, Nordic Walking takes fitness walking to a new level by producing an unbelievable upper body workout. Since its introduction in 1997, this activity has swept the European fitness community with over 1 million active participants. Discover a new passion -- learn more about the benefits of Nordic Walking and Exel Nordic Walker poles. Once you try Nordic Waking, you will be hooked for life."

If you're getting a bit on in years and might be a little shaky on your pins, the poles also give you incredible stability.

I didn't spring for the $60 + poles. Got some 4' dowels (PVC pipe would probably work too.), rubber crutch tips, and bike handlebar grips and made our own for a few bucks. Grab the pole so that your forearm is parallel to the ground and trim it off there.
