It's 12:30 am...Do you know where your 16 year old is?

Mine went for a weekend with his half-brother to their beach house. He should've been home by 10:30, because he's got school tomorrow. He occasionally pushes the limit by 30 minutes to an hour; but never has been this late without at least calling.

I'm worried. And if he walks in here without a good excuse, I'm gonna be pissed. And I'm in no mood to be pissed...

3. I know how you feel

Thank God mine is now a College sophmore, but I did have some late nights. Does he have a cell phone. My son did but when he knew the shit would hit the fan the little brat used to turn it off. I have to admit, when they were drinking they called me to come get him, so did his friends. Hope your son gets home soon so that you can feel better.

5. I've got about 8 years til then, as well

so he is asleep, and he went to bed pretty late since we went to an outdoor show with Los Lobos. They were excellent.

I haven't gotten him a cell phone; but I know his brother and his brother's girlfriend, who was with them, both have phones. Plus, there's a phone at the beach house; so if they got a late start, they could've called.

Even if they had car trouble, the state police patrol the main highways regularly, and are good about assisting people.

I hate that sick feeling in my stomach that something's wrong...

9. Sounds familiar

One of my close friends -- someone I had gone out with Back In The Day -- has a daughter who just turned 18. She also just discovered sex. The kid is intelligent and has good sense, too, which is fortunate, because she is a complete knockout. The lucky dude is a widely-lusted-after skate rat who will probably be history in a few weeks.

Anyway, her mother was terrified about her little angel spreading her wings (and her legs). I said, "Tell me, how old were you and your friends in high school when they started having sex?"

Without missing a beat, she cried, "But we were complete whores!"

My own quick reply? "Not with me, they weren't!"

Of course, by the time your daughter is 13, you'll probably want to sell her into slavery just to get her out of your hair.
