i.e.,

speach
definately
Micheal (Moore or whichever)
Isreal
Tenent (either for George's last name, or little-t version for a component of belief)
(Ronald) Regan

etc.?

If so I think you could argue that the properly-spelled version is less common than the alternative, so it's undemocratic of them to hassle you.
