Admit it!!! What TV shows to you REALLY want available on DVD???
Here's my list of stupid, crappy, terrible shows I just have the craziest urge to see right now...

-Drexle's Class (Fox)
-Camp Wilder (ABC)
-Too Something (Fox)
-Major Dad... no, just kidding... I'm weird, but I'm not a pyscho...
-Union Square (NBC)
-The Single Guy (NBC)
-The Chevy Chase Show (???)
-Herman's Head (Fox)
-Don't Just Sit There (Nickelodeon) ... Just kidding again...

Peace,

3. Some of the REALLY early shows from the 40's and 50's
What a hoot it would be to watch Howdy Doody or Kookla Fran and Ollie again. Not to mention Captain Video and Tom Corbet Space Cadet, and Rocky Jones Space Rangers. (I had such a crush on Rocky's sidekick Vena Ray.)

55. Pinky Lee! Winky Dink! Tom Terrific!
I Remember Mama, Topper, Love That Bob, Our Miss Brooks, The People's Choice, Annie Oakley, Wild Bill Hickock.

I wonder how they would hold up.

And of course, ahem, Playhouse 90.

Actually, of course, a lot of the live shows were broadcast before the age of videotape, and they may exist only on poor quality kinescopes, if at all. Pinky Lee and Howdy Doody may be gone forever.

97. Man, I had such a crush on Annie Oakley!
And one of the girls on the Mickey Mouse club who's name escapes me at the moment. (No, it wasn't Annette. Everybody else in my class had a crush on her, but she didn't float my boat at all.)

And what about Robin Hood? I loved that show. I wanted be to be a Robin Hood when I grew up. Or a Lone Ranger if all the Robin Hood positions were filled.

yeah, I know, I know.... Selleck's politics, but we all need a little eye candy now and then, ya know? Hawaiian landscape visuals aren't bad either...

Plus, I always loved Higgins' character...For reasons that will escape me until I die, my late father related to him, even growing a mustache for the first time ever--late in life-- like Higgin's...! As a rather plain-spoken conservative man from small town rural America, who loved local beer "joints," big band music, and Chet Atkins, this fascination with the British snob, Higgins, seemed incongruous to say the least....LOL

Let me see....I'd LOVE for the powers that be to release General Hospital the Luke and Laura years...that would be TOO awesome....I scheduled CLASSES around that soap!

All My Children...the Greg and Jenny years.

I'd also like for them to release Ryan's Hope.

Saturday Night Live in seasons instead of as the best of comedian X.

Old talk shows like Phil Donahue...he had some history making shows. Perhaps a best of?

Ten Speed and Brown Shoe...a show that starred Jeff Goldblum and Ben Vereen

Welcome Back Kotter...although they would only need to do the first two seasons to make me happy. After John Travolta left and the Kotters had the twins the show jumped the shark.

Star Trek TOS in box sets instead of individual DVDs

Star Trek the animated series (it was on Saturday mornings in the mid 1970s)

68. You will enjoy it.
I've lived off my bootlegs for years and it's such a pleasure to see it uncut and pristine. I saw many skits I haven't seen in over 20 years.
Go get it tomorrow and let me know what you think of it.

80. The wife is getting me the SCTV Volume 1 box for Father's Day...
Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 01:29 AM by LowerManhattanite
...which is a phenomenal gift!

Others I want to see?

As mentioned before, the COMPLETE "Mary Tyler Moore Show". Brilliance and a half.

The first three seasons of SNL—complete shows, not "Best Ofs".

A "Mod Squad" boxed set. "Name?" "Hayes!" "First name?" "Linnnn-coln!"

The demented Ralph Bakshi second-generation "Mighty Mouse" cartoons.

The COMPLETE "The Tick" series.

A "Star Trek" Box set

The Richard Pryor five-episode summer replacement series (this is on DVD but I can't snag it anywhere)

And the capper, the one I KNOW'LL never happen, a complete series set of "Alias Smith and Jones", ABC's great early seventies western.

99. The Outer Limits is out.
Both seasons. I have them both. Such a different perspective as an adult from when I first view it as a kid.

Time Tunnel, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, The Invaders

F Troop ....well maybe they could take their time with that one.

Not sure if it's out on DVD. Great show, and died before it's time.

Also liked "Action". Most innovative thing on network TV in the past five years.

Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 09:32 AM by Zolok
The Hero starring Richard Mulligan
Run Buddy Run
The Good Guys with Herb Edelman and Bob Denver
The Ugliest Girl in Town with Peter Kasten
The Loner with Lloyd Bridges
The New People (1969) produced by Aaron Spelling
Custer starring Wayne Maunder and Slim Pickens
The Green Hornet
The Young Rebels with Lou Gossett Jr.
My World and Welcome to It with William Windom
Zorro with Guy Williams
Annie Oakley
Mr. Terrific with Stephen Strimpell
Captain Nice with William Daniels
Dick Tracy with Ralph Byrd
Quark with Richard Benjamin
The Immortal with Chris George
The Man from Atlantis
Jesse James starring Christopher Jones
Honey West with Anne Francis
Anything with Ernie Kovacs in it...
Oh I could go on with this list but you get the picture.
With the exception of Zorro and the Good Guys these are all rare "one season wonders" that could fit nicely on a two disk set...in some cases we are talking about as few as 14 extant eps.

93. "Brideshead Revisited" is available.
I just checked at Netflix. Which is a great way to access the TV-series DVD's. If you're not sure you really want to make the investment, since the sets can get pretty expensive.
