Tuesday night Laker-Piston game
My take: the X-factor in every Laker series is Derek Fisher, who has noticeably been quiet against the Pistons. As a result, the Lakers have not come up with a third scorer in this series.

Without an effective power forward, the Lakers cannot overcome the Pistons' rebounding edge anyway, so look for Jackson to throw the dice and go small with Kobe, Payton and Fisher playing major minutes together, along with Shaq and Devean George.

IMO, the Lakers cannot win without Fisher coming up big.

Just my two cents, and frankly, I'm hoping it doesn't happen.

Go, Pistons!

one thing is for sure.. the east/west rivalry is cooking again and that will be good for basketball in general.

3. Lakers are buying a roll of stamps
'Cause they're going to mail it in for Game 5.

Okay, maybe not. I expect the Lakers to come out with fury and fire, and the Pistons had better be ready to match it. However, if the Pistons keep it close through three quarters, the crowd and their intensity will lift them to victory.

4. I'm for the Lakers.
But D. George gets on my nerves so damned much. He's always obviously trying to get fouled (I know sometimes he's ordered to, but geez--he's so clumsy at it) and seems to end up fouling the opposing team himself just as the Lakers can't afford to have the opposition go to the freethrow line.

Anyone else loathe him despite liking the Lakers?

I don't know if the Lakers can pull it off now or not--they'd have to win three in a row, the first out-of-town.

Last night, their eyes all looked like Tim Duncan's big ole hurt puppy eyes when the Spurs are losing big--it was the first time I've ever seen defeat on the faces of the entire Lakers team, but it was there.

6. I bet Jerry Buss loathes his fat contract
D. George is barely a role player.

9. Isn't it beautiful!
I don't hate the Lakers, hate is a self destructive emotion, however when it comes to Phil Jackson ...:argh:
His incessant repining about the officiating is nauseating.
He's made a career of it and now is reaping his just rewards, a fairly called series.
By the way, the reason why the Lakers are having so much foul trouble is because they are SLOWER laterally and therefore fouling is the only hope they have of stopping people.

14. As is obviously...
...not liking that Senator Byrd had KKK affiliations, even though I had respected him tremendously until I found this out about a month ago.

I think DU and I can do without each other.

10. They left Payton back in LA
because he is a joke in this series. I know he doesn't have the speed like he used to, but he has been almost a non-factor for the entire series. Fisher needs to replace him for the offense.

11. Interesting career crossroads for Payton
I doubt teams will be beating down his door. On the other hand, it's hard to see him exercise his option to stay in LA another year.

Just one of many questions with this Laker team.

17. They'd better win it
To be the first team to lose a finals after a 3-1 edge would be horrrrible.
