mp3 question
What's the difference between "stereo" and "joint stereo?"

(I could've probably found it with google, but sometimes I just feel like asking some friendly people for a simple explanation.)

3. Stereo channels are completely independent, while joint stereo
channels are related algorithmically to increase compression.

5. not necessarily
A good implementation of Mid/Side Joint Stereo can produce results practically identical to the "normal" stereo at better compression levels.
