Too funny.. My son's car was stolen
Ok..that part's not funny.. he called just devastated (and hinting for money ).. I told him to just be patient and sure enough, the police caught the guy with his car (A Jeep Cherokee..an older one)

The guy was using it for his business.. Had signs on the sides and everything..

he also had the interior detailed, had it sparkling and freshly waxed....put in new spark plugs and put on 4 new tires.. he also fixed the leak in the radiator..

We laughed ourselves silly.. What a dunce ...

6. I read once about a guy whose beloved cadillac was stolen
and when the cops returned it to him, it had had a new engine put in,new tires and body work done.. He commented to the cops that he wished they had waited a week or so to find it.. Maybe the guy would have had time to re-paint it..:)

4. rotfl, it's a car story day!!
That is the funniest by far!

But yesterday my daughter called in absolute hysteria. She had locked the keys in her car and her pomeranian puppy was in it. She was absolutely GONE BEZERKO!! So my husband helped her. He couldn't have been home 5 minutes and the people across the street came over, they'd locked their keys in their car too. lord. No, he isn't a locksmith, they just come to him so he can tell them to call the locksmith I guess!!

Good for your son. That is a friggin' hoot!!

8. Was they guy driving when caught the guy who stole it, or
did he buy it cheap from a theft ring?

Just trying to give someone the benefit of the doubt before deeming them the stupidest person on the planet. Then again, unless he saw a forged title...

I remember when my wife $'s car was stolen...The West Mifflin PD found our car about 6 hours after it was stolen. A year later we had to check with the state to find out why we didn't receive registration papers. They informed us it was reported stolen.

We discovered the Pittsburgh PD had not yet filed the stolen car report when West Mifflin PD reported it found, so we were driving our own stolen vehicle for a year. We called the local police station to ask what we should do. They told us to call 911 and report our car found...

9. Yes.. from what the police told my son,
the guy made an illegal turn and was pulled over.. What he told the police is unknown.. Apparently he's a young guy with a handyman service.. However he came to be driving my son's car, my son is glad to have it back..

The only annoying part is that it cost him $300 to get it out of impound..

Here, the police will call you BEFORE they impound it, and if you can get there fast enough,it saves them paperwork and you ...money :)

Washington state must not go that route.

We reminded him that $300 was cheap for new tires, so if he does not get that back, at least he has new tires :)

12. Hooray!
I've had three cars stolen from me (horrible luck) and even though I've eventually gotten all of them back, two of them were in such horrible condition that I just signed them over to the city to be totalled rather than pick them up. The third one was almost new, but the people who stole it did horrible things to the interior that I never could quite get out of my mind. I got rid of it soon after that.

I'm glad he got his car back and in such good condition! :-)

14. my favorite car story ...
Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 05:19 PM by welshTerrier2
my sister-in-law is a lawyer ... she had to drive over to her local shopping center to run an errand ...

she gets out of the car, slams the door, and, oh no ... yup, she left the keys right there in the ignition ...

she looks around to see if there's someone who might be able to help her ... as she scans the area, she sees a hardware store ... miracle of miracles, right there in the window is a big sign that reads: KEYS MADE ...

she goes into the hardware store, tells her sorrowful tale to the guy behind the counter, reaches into her handbag, pulls out a spare key to her car and proudly announces: "fortunately i always carry a spare key ... could me make me a key like this so i can get back in my car ???"
