What's your good news?

I'm so sorry about that
Would you like to tell me about it?

My good news? Well there is actually a long and complicated story behind it, it's somewhat interesting. I could tell you about it but you would have to prepare yourself with LOTS of reading.

11. Um, can I get the general point of it?
I'm pretty much going on no sleep and I'm not sure my brain can handle a lot this morning.

Basically, the new thing is that I'm going to be slaughtered and I can't get a man of my own so I go for everyone else's (considering I've done that um... NEVER).

16. Well...
The thing is it is important to pay attention to every detail, things could've gone wrong very badly. Thankfully it didn't. Anyways that chapter of my life is behind me and I'm ready to move foward.

If you like, you could PM more about the bigger details about what you're talking about. If that's the case then this whole harrasement thing is way beyond out of hand, if you need any kind of help at all I'm here.

I'm basically to the point where I'm apathetic about it now. They would've done something by now and if it's my time to go, then He knows and I'll be okay. I'm just giving it to Him.

PM me your story.

I can't say I've ridden one before, are they fun? That sucks about the bruises. Well since everything happened they way it did yesturday I decided to celebrate and man that was a mistake. See this thread to understand what I'm talking about http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x1275328 I'm in pain, my left thumb hurts like hell!! But I had fun though. I feel so relived though and free, what should I do from here on out?

Sorry to hear about your thumb. Um, not sure if you want to hear this from me or not (actually, it's probably going to sound a little hypocritical of me and for that, i'm sorry) but wasn't a part of the um, court thing that you had to pass the alcohol thing too? Not to rain on your parade or anything, but it seems like you've been drunk a lot lately. Not that that's bad, I'm just wondering if something else is going on.

Maybe I should try riding one? I might be able to handle one, I don't know. :)

Yeah it was but many there openly admitted they would continue to use drugs after the class and they still got a certificate, in fact everyone did. Yeah there are lots of things going on but it would take me forever to go over every little thing that he is bugging me at the moment. But don't worry, I don't drink often(sometimes once every two months). I'm not trying to become the alcoholics my uncles and dad and grandpa were.

Tonsilitus ( spelt wrong :-) ), Anemia and she's going for tests to find out if she's got Glandular fever ( hence the hospital visit ). That is on top of being a mother to our 7 month ( non sleeping for the first 5 months ) old daughter, holding down a full time teaching job. On the whole I have nothing but admiration for her, how she's kept going. I 've done my best to do as much as I physically can. Did I mention the post natal depression?

I was wondering about these two comments "harassment thing" and "less than two weeks until I get to see him!"

Wow, she's like Super Mom. That's seriously amazing at all she's having to deal with right now. It's great that you're supporting her in any way that you can, I'm sure that comforts here a lot. I really hope she gets better soon! She'll be in my thoughts!

Harassment thing is kind of a long story. In short, I had a fling with this guy a YEAR ago and his girlfriend now doesn't like the fact that he slept with someone else (even though they weren't together when we were) and she's basically psycho. So she AND he have been threatening to kill me for about the past two months. It's been great. :eyes:

The him thing - that's my marine that's stationed at Camp LeJeune. We try to see each other one weekend a month (we've only been together since April where we met at Spring Break). He's a great guy and though he's 8 hours away, we're trying to work on having a relationship. (sorry, didn't mean to talk your ear off).

How do you deal with them?, they sound very immature or scary lowlifes. She obviously is lacking in self-esteem to even care what happened a year ago.

As to your bloke, well long distance relationships I could say a thing or two, but I'll just say when I met my wife I was traveling the world and in 8 months we saw each other once for a week, and even though it was hard it worked out in the end. Good luck with it all, and thank goodness for email and phones :-)

56. Basically, I'm not sure how I'm handling it.
I'm just crossing my fingers and praying to God that they're too stupid to try anything. She's pretty much a psycho. I don't get what the problem is, but then again, I don't even see it as a problem. I made a mistake and I'm the one that's had to deal with it, but it didn't even concern her!

That's soooo great to hear! Thanks SO much for sharing that with me! Congrats to you guys. I rarely hear instances of long distance relationships working out so it's nice to hear something positive for a change. I mean, the circumstances are hard (especially since he's going to be deployed again) but I believe it takes a lot of faith and that, I have plenty of. :D

61. If you both want it
it will happen. Mind you for us it was very hard, especially as I was a bit too wrapped up in where I was, S.E. Asia and OZ, and I didn't email/phone my now wife as much as I should. To my eternal shame I didn't give her enough long distance support with her three life threatening events, which is why I guess I am so determined never to be even remotely unsupportive again.

In case you are wondering the events were:-

Scuba diving accident, BCD faulty, lucky she didn't get severe bends or ruptured lungs.

Malaria.

Hunted by lions, in her words "I ran around like a frightened wildebeest".

Is it any wonder my wife has so many stories. I believe the ancient Chinese curse was "may you live in interesting times"

Did I mention the mugging at sword point ( actually Panga, machete )? I was the one on the receiving end of that one :-) .

78. It is all relative
to your experiences. I think you are well within your rights to complain about those nutters. I have never had a death threat ( OK a machete pressing in your stomach may count to some but not in my head as it was something I knew could happen where I was ) and I think that must be much harder to deal with. My wife is the one with the insane experiences. Actually why is it always happening to her? ( sorry thinking out loud ) ;-)

I think I have told you enough for one day, but maybe over time I'll get to tell you the full stories, which are much better than snippets. I may even bore you with the day I met my wife, as it was my best ever day, full of boy's own adventure, risk, danger, romance and even a bit of comedy.

Well, where do I even begin?
Here's a good story for you: I went out for sushi on Sunday and got the puffer fish...actually, it was something else, but still, it was bad enough that my digestive organs decided to get a divorce from the rest of my body. So, how do you figure a place that charges $30 per head can get away with killing off its customers?

I'm still not quite 100%, and I'm telling you, that was about enough to put me off of both sushi and fine dining altogether.

Anyway, there are people with much bigger ailments, so I should just stop complaining and start job hunting. Somehow, though, I keep finding myself back at DU!

49. It's addictive!
Don't fight it! You can't leave! (insert evil laugh) mwhahahahaha

But seriously, that SUCKS! I'm sorry to hear about the bad sushi incident. (But come on it IS sushi. YUCK!) Hope you er, organs, get back to normal! And you should probably lay off the coffee until they do!

Good luck with the job search!

55. Too late. Mug in hand.
I feel okay, though. I've been worse.

Yeah, you'd think I'd learn--this is the second time sushi has bitten me.

The job search is really causing some issues: I'm seriously torn between trying for a job in a public school or as an copywriter at a nonprofit. Well, not torn, really; I'm trying for both. Teaching is a blast, of course, but let me tell you, that teacher shortage that you've heard about does not apply to English majors. The competition is fierce. I would love to work for a Dem candidate, but I need an actual paycheck, and I think most campaign work is part-time or volunteer. Maybe if I volunteer, though, I could make new connections.

Anyway, I was going to ask you, did you pick the graveyard shift at your gig? Are you naturally nocturnal?

58. Put the Mug down and back away from the toxins!
(my attempt at being funny - sorry!)

Whatever you decide to do, good luck with it. Teachers always amaze me. I couldn't be one. Ever. And you're an English major, huh? That's awesome! :D My favorite subject! Perhaps you could just volunteer part time until you see how the job search goes, then you'll be able to know how much time you can spend volunteering? (BTW, that's really awesome of you!)

I actually work mornings through the week for only three hours every morning, then I come back in Fridays for 6 and Saturdays for 9. At my job though, someone is always off or sick so I never end up with less than 40 hours a check. It's a pretty rewarding job. At 18, I'm pretty damn proud to have kept it for two years (well, in two more weeks it will be). Nocturnal is my middle name. :D What about you? Early bird??

68. I'm not an early bird by choice, that's for sure!
Left to my own devices, my natural rhythm is to sleep from 5 to noon. My parents always used to wonder what was wrong with me. Of course, back when I was doing the whole band thing, this was not a problem. Actual work requires me to invert my schedule.

So you're 18 and working full weeks? Are you in school, or are you already started on your career. 18--sheesh, I was working at a club doing promo crap right about then. Not rewarding at all, except for being able to hang out in a bar.

74. Band thing?
Interesting! What kind of music did you guys play?

I'm working towards getting my GED right now and I will be attending college classes after that. I want to be either a Journalism or psychology major. Promo stuff at a club? That's like every 18 year old's dream! That's awesome!

79. It was pretty cool. But I was doing a lot of work on other things.
We were on a label that was basically a co-op, so I actually worked very hard. I ended up putting off college until I was 20, but I still managed to keep up the same pace with a full course load. That pretty much continued until the millennium, since I went straight through to grad school. That was cool, because at that point we were touring a lot, and my professors let me submit papers via email.

The type of music? We just said indie rock, but for some reason a lot of goths loved us. It was more about experimental noise than musicianship. Mrs. Cat says we were a cross between Joy Division a car crash. At the moment, though, I have been out of the scene for three years or so, but only because I went back to school again. As soon as the employment thing is resolved, I am determined something else together, but I don't think it will be as hard-edged. If I could drag Mrs. Cat onto a stage (she's a cellist), that would be great--she's terrified of large crowds, though. I should at least try to get her to come to a studio.

So, you're thinking journalism or psych? That's quite a broad spectrum. Take your time deciding!

44. G'day, Blondie!
:hi:  Welcome to another dreary beginning of the week. Wouldn't have beeen so bad if Sunday wasn't rainy, too. The forecasters guessed wrong, the rain wasn't isolated or scattered, unless you call isolated the whole metro Atlanta area. It was a rest Sunday, anyway. How was the weekend road trip?

47. Ugh I feel you!
It's rainy here too. We had some pretty bad storms last night actually. Knocked the power out at work and everything. I keep forgetting you're in ATL. Why haven't we hung out yet?? LOL. Actually, I'm planning a weekend trip down there to go to Six Flags with one of my friends soon.

Hope you had a good weekend! No road trip for me this weekend. I don't leave until the 22nd.

This was training weekend, double on Friday and the windsprint intervals on Saturday. I'm on the track, already over 80 @ 9am wondering, "what am I doing?" into my 4th lap. Ran for almost 15min, 6 laps, went home and took a nap. :boring:

Where's it being held? I thought that adventure weekend was in NC.

BTW, that'd be a LONG commute to train you. :P

71. It is in NC.
But if I ride the bus, that's 12 hours (because of stops and such) so to be able to spend more time with him, I just decided to fly since it's only going to take about 3 and a half hours. :D Now I've just gotta get over this weird fear I have. I've flown before but that was when I was like 12 and my aunt was with me.

I'm not worth it??? *pouty look*

77. Yes, you're worth it
and he'll be way happy to spend much more time with you. 3 and a half hours beats a 12-hour drive hands down. You can do it!

Flying is great for long distances. Take your CD player and CD's and spare batteries and a couple of books/magazines, your flight will be too short for movies.
