4. My bc is named Ceile
(hence my screen name) Pronounced "kay-lee". It's Irish for "dancer" and I can't think of a sweeter name for a sweeter dog. She's the best dog ever!:)

8. Oh! That is soooo sweet!
Our Border Collies name is Pepper.

If I ever had a girl, I was going to name her Piper but the only girl I got was our dog so I opted for Pepper.

13. Gillian Anderson named her daughter Piper
And then on the XFiles they named a ship after her, the Piper Maru.

14. My daughter was going to be Piper Addison
Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 04:18 PM by lovedems
(Addison is a family name).

Instead I got 4 boys. Ace, Jett, Ty and Zak. Wouldn't trade them for the world.

Edit: Yes, Ace is our oldest sons *real* first name. We get asked alot if it is a nickname. Nope!

9. Sooo Cute!
We got our Border Collie the day she turned 8 weeks old. Her name at the time was Ruffles but we changed it to Zoe. There are times though when I think her name should have been Schizo. LOL! We have 1 1/4 acres fenced in and she has made a trench along the entire fence line from running after anything that dares to move. She's a nut but I love her. :loveya:

18. Mist was my border collie's name...
She was brown with green eyes...her eyes reminded me of seamist.
When I bought her from a farmer, he told me that border collies traditionally have one-syllable names, to make it easier for them to follow commands (and easier for the rancher as well).

The names of some of Mist's ancestors were:
Bill
Kip
Bud
Fly
Bob
Sal

19. Rocky, Boris and Natasha
Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 04:32 PM by SiouxJ
Those are (were) the names of mine, though I only named the first one - Rocky. I lucked out and found two that were already named in keeping with the Bullwinkle theme. Rock was actually a BC/German Shepherd mix. *sigh* I miss him.

That puppy looks like what I imagine Tasha must have looked like as a puppy, though I have no way of knowing since I adopted her when she was already a year and a half old. No puppy pics :-( .

27. Your Tasha has the same markings as our Pepper.
That could be our dog! She has white back by her tail too. Same white spotted nose.

That is uncanny. I haven't seen a BC with Peppers markings yet!

I guess there is a first time for everything!

I tried to post a picture so you could see, but it is to big.

28. Cool!
You could e-mail it to me. I'd love to see her! I'll send you my address when I get a chance but I've got to run now.

It's hard to tell in the photo but Tasha has a little pink mark on her nose as well.

My dogs are brother and sister (from the same litter) and they really don't look much alike at all. That's cool that Tasha has a "separated at birth" twin out there :-) .

22. Lol!
true!

I was just reading an article on BC's and it said if you like sleep, don't get one. Mine wake me up every morning at 4, wanting to go outside and play. They won't give up either. All evening long they keep thrusting toys at me too. And this, even with a 3 mile walk every single day. They have endless energy. Definitely not a dog that will just sleep all day long.

24. We have a friend who has TWO of them.. They live up in the hills
and one morning, she heard a commotion in the back yard.. She looked out the sliding door to see both dogs, working as a team (they were never formally trained)...and they had "herded" 4 wild burros and had them confined near her hot tub..

She had a hell of a time getting them both inside without "upsetting" the burros..

25. I have two too and mine try to herd javelinas (like wild pigs)
Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 04:45 PM by SiouxJ
through the fence. They try to herd everything. They hate it when people are in different rooms of the house. They want everyone all together.

It's best to have two BC's so they can keep each other busy. Mine tear up the backyard playing tag. It works well as I can't keep them occupied all the time and that's what they need or they get into trouble.
