Free Hebrew language learning sites...know any?
This poor fellow-traveller with a penchant for languages wants to pick up yet another one. Anybody got any suggestions for better sites than the ones I've found? So far, I've gone to Akhlah.com and printed off almost all of their worksheets, but they seem very, uh, Orthodox, and I'm primarily interested in the language for non-religious reasons (believe it or don't). Jewish holiday/religious vocabulary is nice, and much of it spills over into big life ok, but I'm also looking for slightly different information, preferably aimed at novice adult learners. I've also printed off some basic conversational stuff from Israelvisit.co.il.

I'm particularly looking for:

--systemic stuff on verb conjugations/inflections, sentence structure, syntax, and other grammar
--basic everyday vocabulary
--basic introductory idioms and expressions
--written descriptions of the phonics (I can handle fairly advanced linguistic stuff, because that's where my background is)

I appreciate your help. Todah!

1. Have you checked with the local Reform Temple?

They might have classes. Probably some nominal tuition, but even here us gentiles can take classes. It's always more fun to learn languages in a group.

2. Well, the fiance figure is pushing me towards the Conservatives...
...mostly out of sectarian loyalty, but I swear it was on the list before I ever even met him. (He's just the extra incentive, and goodness me, I ain't signing anything I can't read!) Nevertheless, I don't quite have the gonads to make the call. I mean, what do I say?

I figured I would eventually like to take classes, but I'd like to learn some things for myself, first. :) This language thing is easier the fifth time!
