Poll question: Hot or cold?
I grew up in NY. We had nasty cold winters and horribly hot, muggy summers. Now I live in California where it's temperate year-round.

But I left New York because of the summers. Most people seem to hate the cold, but dammit, I hate the heat. It makes me grumpy and mean. People never riot because of the "long cold nights" of winter - it's the damned heat that makes people crazy!

So, if you had a choice... would you spend a winter in Manitoba or a summer in New Orleans?

2. grew up in Philly
now in Los Angeles. Hate the damn humidity back east. Hate it. How did I stand it as long as I did? I rarely lived anywhere that was air conditioned. Spent many sleepless nights tossing, turning and sweating.

You can always get warm if its cold out.

8. exactly...
if it's -20 degrees I can go inside and put on a sweater. If it's 105 degrees, there's precious little I can do. I can only get so naked.

4. I live in Florida for a reason. 7 years in Minnesota was enough
cold for one lifetime. When the heat gets too bad, I just think of walking through the ice at 35 below zero (real temp - 60 degrees below zero wind chill). Cools me right down.

7. I live in Ohio
And we have those same frozen winters and blazing summers.

I'll take the summer any day over the cold of the winter. I just prefer all the green stuff and walking around in a t-shirt. And lets not forget that beer tastes so much better in the summer.

16. I like the changes.
After a few months of heat I'm ready for the snow and cold weather. Then again, after a few month's of snow I'm ready for the heat.

17. Summer in Atlanta is bad enough. I'll take the Great Frozen North anytime.
I can't really imagine NO being much worse than Atlanta in the summertime. 90's or above for 2 or 3 months, 70-85% humidity...it's hideous. I don't really go outside in the daytime for about three or four months. Anytime I AM found outside in the daytime, I'm just moving from one air-conditioned space to another.

Autumn and winter are my favourite times of year, and if I could afford the expense I'd happily spend March through September in the Southern Hemisphere.

18. yes...
I do miss autumn and spring. We don't really have much of either here in CA. Autumn is especially missed - there's nothing like a crisp, cool, windy day with the leaves blowing around you, especially after a blazing summer.
