'Think we saved a nest of baby birds in Chicago today - 'feeling
pretty proud! We were coming back from our daily run in Lincoln Park and noticed that along with the brand new sapling trees the City was planting on N. Clark St - a fully constructed nest was included!. Apparently the landscapers went to the nursery this morning and picked up the prescribed trees to be planted and 'didn't notice that one of the sparsely branched new trees had the nest of baby birds in it.
We went by and heard a tremendous amount of squawking and raced back home to find someone to call to find out what to do as there is no way the parents went along for the ride to the city and the nest could never survive on that street perched precariously on the tiny sidewalk. I called the Lincoln Park Zoo but only got recorded messages - called the City non-emergency number and they said we had to go back and get the EXACT address - so we hopped in the car and went back - the nest was gone. I guess some other "good deed doo'er" moved it - as least that' what I hope happened -now I can sleep tonight.
