More rain. Reminds me of Vietnam ... Monsoon season ...
All day. All night. All tomorrow. Crotch-rot. Foot-rot. Mind-rot. But I do love the mountain!

1. Strange weather this year.
We went a few weeks with rain almost everyday. Then a nice day - then hot and humid. Damn, it's only JUNE!!

I'm beginning to sound more and more like my mother everyday. "I don't remember the weather ever being this crazy".

Is it humid up there at your mountain?

2. Humid? Try "saturated."
Totally saturated. We are under a flash-flood watch here in Transylvania County. After this rain-cell, it is probably a flash-flood warning.

3. More thunder and lightning (distant)
I'll probably pull the plug soon. Protect essential, eh "trof?"

Sorry, "protect essential" is an old term from Boeing jet engineer panels.

4. Two weeks ago tomorrow night...
..a good friend got his computer knocked out by a big storm. It spent a week in the shop getting fixed. Good idea to "protect essential".

5. I Lived In Bangkok In '71-'72...
The monsoons were something I really wasn't prepared for and didn't fully understand. But I definitely came to "appreciate" their cumulative, almost ceaseless power.

6. I love (and hate) Bangkok.
If you were there, you know what I mean (Vern!). We evidently overlapped in South East Asia, Allen. I was in Vietnam from September 1970 through September 30, 1971. I sat around Bangkok in 1992, after the Singapore Air Show, waiting for a journalist visa into the Peoples' Republic of Vietnam. I had a great assignment to cover the state of civil aviation in Vietnam from my then main magazine employer. We waited in Bangkok for two weeks (in a $200/night room), while the commies in Hanoi (and they were fucked-up commies) arranged nothing for me. We finally split on a Thai Airlines flight to London and Pan Am to Washington.

16. Bangkok. Nice town, great place for mind-numbing weirdness
especially roaming around lost blasted on acid, trying to find a bus back to the hotel at about 0200.

Singapore, now that is a different vibe entirely.

All of us overlapped, I got there in May 71.

Weird.

9. Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz...
Here is a person who truly cared about others, with little thought of herself. Sure she wanted to go home, but in searching for that she befriended and helped those along her path regardless of their appearance. How many of us truly would do that? I think I'd have a problem with it if I wanted to get home that badly.

Of course you can argue that it was a dream. Then I want the dreaming Dorothy to be real. My father loved this movie and I never miss it, we used to watch it every year together.

being so absurdly out of place!

Good thing you noticed. I would have really wondered about you after that! :D :hi:

14. da momma has recommendation for you: corn starch
put some in a cocktail shaker if you have one, and keep it in the bathroom or bedroom. Sprinkle on body parts that suffer from the humidity. You will feel better.

Hey, how's the dog?
