Grammar question...capitalization of the d word
I was asked to proofread a letter that has this statement in it. "...and ensuring democratic victories on both national and local fronts." Should or should not the d in "democratic" be capitalized? Please answer only if you are sure of your answer. Thanks all!

3. Only if it refers to the party.
The generic adjective ("democratic reform") is in lower case.

because the sentence is referring to the Democratic party. If you are talking about democracy or democratic values in general, then it's small "d."

5. In the context in which you are using it yes
It should be capitalized as it refers to a title.

OK it is referring to the party. A capital D is required here. Thanks! J4A
