20. Panthers were a football in the USFL
They played at the Silverdome when the NFL wasn't playing. I believe they won the first championship. Here's their website:http://www.alleganyinternet.net/~mich_panthers/

And the Cougars were a pro soccer team from 1967-68 and they played at Tiger Stadium. Here's their roster:

Detroit, I know.... But I just like the idea of Ft. Wayne having a NBA team, cause it's incredibly insane.

But Rochcester is f'ed up and winning Champion ships? Maybe Golden State could learn how to play basketball and have their own NBA team... Oh, wait.... What kind of name is Golden State anyway for an NBA team? Where's their arena? Oakland, San Diego?

15. But why?
Why go somewhere where you'll always be the city's second favorite in your sport. New York will always be Knicks first.

22. not really
That's a media creation. Same way they say that NY is a Yankees town or NY is a Giants town.

If the team is good, and they have star players, they'll be the talk of the town.

NY welcomed the Mets with open arms and while they don't have the pizzaz the Yankees do - in their glory days they drew 3,000,000 fans and filled up Shea Stadium.

The Jets are arguably more popular in NY City and the suburbs than the Giants are.

The Knicks suck right now, and will continue to suck for at least another decade. The time is perfect for the Nets to make their move to Brooklyn and claim an identity for themselves.

The Dodgers were beloved, so will the Nets be when they come in.

35. Washington Senators!
And anybody in MLB who thinks a Washington (or Northern Virginia) team would draw fans from the Os should try this simple test.

Leave work at 4:30 pm, drive home to get the kids, then try to make it to the O's stadium by a 7 pm game start time! IT CAN"T BE DONE!

Make in a NL team, many of us don't give a squat aboiut AL teams so we won't be going to Baltimore anyway.

45. The Anaheim Amigos
From the American Basketball Association, mainly because they had such a goofy name.
here's an excerpt from the website http://www.remembertheaba.com ...

"The Amigos were not a good team and nobody in Orange County (let alone Southern California) noticed them. On October 13, 1967, the Amigos took the floor at Oakland and proceeded to lose the ABA's inaugural game, 134-129. They didn't win until their sixth game. It became a long season for the Amigos. Included were losing streaks of 6, 6, and 8 games...The Amigos had an interesting cheerleader (to say the least) at their home games in Anaheim. The cheerleader was a man dressed to resemble a "Mexican bandit" -- complete with a pistol. He sat near the Amigos' bench, costume and all. When the Amigos rallied (which wasn't often), the bandit jumped up and down and shot loaded blanks into the air."
