How do you keep flip flops clean?
I try to take a shower in my favorite black nike flip flops once a week. But they still smell really bad. Anyone have any idea how to keep them from stinking? I've tried spraying them with diinfectant spray, foot spray...and I'm at a loss. Do any of you have any secrets that could help?

4. My sandles aren't flipflops but:
When my sandals begin to smell, I hose them off, wipe them out with a soaking wrag, and then let them dry and air out on the patio in the sunlight for a day or two. The rinse followed by an extended dry period seems to effectively kill odors.

Of course, my feet don't smell too bad, so YMMV.

7. Maybe soak in a dilute sol'n of bleach?
or Oxy-Clean? a capful of bleach in a bucket of water is good to sanitize all kinds of things.

Or maybe Dr. Scholl's zorri inserts?

9. "Your shower shoes have fungus on 'em....
...You'll never get to the Bigs with fungus on your shower shoes. Think classy and you'll be classy. If you win 20 in the Show you can let the fungus grow back on your shower shoes and the press'll think you're colorful. Until you win twenty in the Show, however, it means you're a slob."

I had to do it. One of the classics from Bull Durham

Try Febreze. If it worked on the walking human teargas that sat in front of me on the bus, it will work on your shoes...

11. First, throw away the Nikes
Then go to your local Cheap Bastard Store (Dollar General, Big Lots, etc.) and pay no more than $2 for a pair. Then go out and walk through puddles when it rains.

12. I've had these flops for two or three years now.
There is no way I'm throwing them away. They're still in perfect condition except for the smell, and perfectly broken in.

13. Oxyclean
Better than sex for those with the OCD cleaning fetish. Just soak those flip-flops in a bucket with this stuff-they will be clean and fresh as a baby's butt.

14. toss them in the washing machine
I do it all the time. Works with your tennies too. (If the smell still won't wash out, play taps give them a burial)
