I'm still seeing flags flying half-mast. This is getting ridiculous. And I'm sure it ain't because of Ray Charles, either, but another guy - a criminal - whose first name starts with R. :grrr:

8. Are you serious? 30 days??
According to someone else's post below, I guess 30 days is standard for a pres. I don't remember it happening for Nixon, but I also wasn't in an area in which I would have seen many flags - or paid attention - anyway.

20. 30 is normal for all dead presidents
No exceptions, no special treatment. No one else is eligible for 30 days other than dead presidents. I have a picture of me at an amusement park in San Diego from April 1969, I less than 2 years old. You can see a flag at half mast in the background. Eisenhower.

3. They should be back up, by now
You can only do that for 7 days, unless Resident Monkey-boy made a proclamation.

the flags stayed at half mast for a long time, but the official mourning period was over after two weeks. In the current case you can't do much about protocol especially since this president no matter what you think of his presidency did not leave in disgrace.

...point at the flag at half-mast and say: "It's just a damn shame that Ray Charles passed away. What a great American." Either that or say that maybe the flags still being half-mast is paying tribute to Reagan's tendency to forget.

And I live across the street from a school, so I see one first thing every morning.
