Any Howitzer fans here?
Something I always wanted as a kid, but never got one. All we had were M80s and dynamite. I wanted a f-ing cannon!!

1. Is that the same thing as a bazzoka?
I aways wanted one of those.

4. My parents never gave me a bazooka, either. Or a flamethrower.
You'd think I could get ONE of those things. But, no.

A bazooka is the rocket launcher that one slings over one shoulder and blasts away at tanks.

A howitzer is the huge ass cannon requiring many people to work that fires ordinance for miles.

5. Howitzers rock your world!

The name alone is cool, and of course...

"Artillery lends dignity to what might otherwise be a vulgar brawl."

7. LOL!
Love that quote about vulgar brawl. I'm keeping it!

Did you come up with it, or is it attributable to someone else?

9. Anonymous...
But it seems to be the unofficial motto of artillery units.

It works sort of like this, I think...
:spank: :nuke: :pals:

...a war memorial not too far away. Tank and war memorial are long gone, but not into my garage.

Edited on Thu Jun-17-04 09:30 AM by ElectroPrincess
I've always dreamed of having an M-60 mounted to the roof of my home. Ya know, just in case Weird Al's "Christmas at Ground Zero" scenario comes true. :P

On edit: Question = In the US Army, is the Artillery Branch still called the "King of Battle?"

We used to tell the infantry grunts "who you gonna call?"

14. The pure shredding power of an M2HB .50 cal machine gun...
cannot be beat. It was always my particular favorite. Who the hell needs a cannon when you've got one of those?

15. But it doesn't go KABOOM
I want the earth-shattering KABOOM.

Though I also want a .50 cal machine gun because, as you say, it shreds. And while it's fun to blow stuff up, it's also fun to plunk a few hundred bullets into targets/cans/bottles/trees/etc.

I can't picture in my mind a wall of milk jugs filled with water, let's say 20 jugs high and 100 jugs wide, and Rabrrrrrr, with aviator's goggles (just for effect) sitting behind the .50 cal and pulling that trigger...

sigh. stupid government and their laws.

Edited on Thu Jun-17-04 12:12 PM by ElectroPrincess
Gee, I meant a Cal 50 machine gun mount. Of course what was I thinking! <blush> Put the Cal 50 in the center (elevated and fortified) on roof and position M60s at each of the four corners. Nobody would come down my chimey but Saint Nick :P.

GREAT name! I remember that in the old Zorro TV series, Capitan Monastario was constantly calling the hapless Segeant Garcia "Baboso!"

22. Dammit! I'm going to have those dreams again tonight!
You know, the one where you've comandeered a Howitzer with 1910's style driving goggles, and you just blow up random abandoned buildings that happen to appear a mile or two down the road.

Damn you, Rabrrrrrr!

Suffer in your dreams! Drive that howitzer around, until the fish that you are suddenly driving through make you realize you arein the ocean so you do stand up comedy with Wink Martindale in front of a tub of mint lifesavers.
