My father every year for over 25 years. He was in a business that had to deal in cash deals daily. They even came to his home and my mother had to get a doctor to stop that as he was ill and it made him very up set. They kept it up for years after he died saying he was getting rid of stuff to fast before he died. ?????

2. no, but one year

I way under-reported my income by not including a major W-2, even sacrificing a hefty refund, because I was going back to school and wanted to qualify for student aid. About 5 years later (not kidding!) they sent me a letter saying I was due a refund, that I had neglected to report some income from 1988, and they were sending a refund WITH INTEREST. I don't think that qualifies as an audit, but I was surprised someone had looked that closely.
