What's the ABSOLUTE WORST CD in your collection?
I'm talking about the ones that are so horrible you would rather poor sulfuric acid into your ear than listen to ever again. And CDs you got as gifts don't count. It has to be one that you bought willingly because you thought it might be pretty good.

For me it's "The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Plays the Music of R.E.M." I'm a HUGE R.E.M. fan, so I picked it up on a whim. Hoo boy is it awful.:puke:

I hear Liz Phair's music will help that.

7. Liz Phair and Phish ought to go on tour together.
Edited on Thu Jun-17-04 01:38 PM by RandomKoolzip
It'll be called "The Phucking Egregious Shit Tour" and they'll do Ani DiFranco (and the Defranco Family) covers like "Patriarchy (It's a Love Beat)."

Now there's a band that doesn't regret naming themselves.

26. I think Dashboard Confessional should open.
As long as we're putting together the most pathetic tour ever, I don't know that it's possible to get more pathetic than Dashboard.

2. Power of Jism, "Your Son Died Laughing."
I love noise rock, but these guys do it all wrong. I paid three bucks for it at Amoeba records in Frisco; anybody want it?

3. Pickin on Led Zeppelin
They did hillbilly versions of Led Zeppelin songs. I ended up giving the album to my mother because she loves bluegrass music!

I bought it because I liked their previous efforts. One listen and I was asking myself, "What is this disco shit?"

8. Any Aerosmith album from 1990 on
They were good up until "Pump," started putting out crap, and I insisted on buying it anyway because I eventually thought they'd go back to good hard rock.

11. My musical tastes are beyond reproach, sir.
Honestly, I don't buy anything on a whim...not like I used to when I collected vinyl.

But the worst disc I own, that I bought for myself, that people might recognize would be:

For about 30 minutes. Unfortunately, I was in a CD store during that 30 minutes.

Additionally, if my Grandmother had not remarried, and my father had kept the name given to him at birth, my name now would actually be....

Robbie Williams.

18. Granted "The Bends" and "OK Computer" are much better...
but you have to respect the balls it took to make an album like "Kid A" after making two of the Greatest Rock Albums Ever. I know a lot of Radiohead fans who don't care for their newer stuff, but I still think it's brilliant. I love watching a band as talented as them evolve the way they are. It reminds me of how Beatles fans must have felt in the 60s. And I stand behind that comparison completely.

24. I liked Kid A the first time
when it was called "Richard D. James Album" by Aphex Twin, and "LP5" by Autechre.

I like Kid A, don't get me wrong, but it's pretty easy to see that they boost a LOT of stuff from the Warp Records catalogue.

the "Singles" soundtrack and one of the albums by "Savage Garden"... Blech, both of them make me want to leap out of the car on the highway.

Runners up in the "if you play that damn CD again I'll have to kill you" category include -

Her "Korn" collection
Alien Ant Farm "Tonight the Stars Revolt"
Guns and Roses "Use your Illusion 1 and 2"
Propellerheads - I can't remember the CD Name (Repressed perhaps?) but has that annoying "History Repeating" song on it with Shirley Bassey and an eternity of crappy James Bond inspired techno garbage on it.

As for mine, I am certain she ponders divorce when I make her listen to -

Tilt "Collect em All"
Dead Milkmen "Bucky Fellini"
Iron Maiden "The Number of the Beast" and "Somewhere in Time"
Marillion "Script for a Jester's Tear"
Jello Biafra and No Means No "The Sky is Falling and I want my Mommy"

A friend of mine bought it and I made a copy of it. It's good for mixtape samples (the ridiculous overproduction means there are a lot of good effects to borrow) but God is it terrible.

...and maybe "South Side".

The rest barely qualifies as music.
