I have a date tonight. What should I wear?
I met this guy on Saturday night and we kind of hit it off. He is only in town temporarily working for some Federal Court case as a project manager so it probably won't ever turn into anything serious. We decided that tonight would be a good night to go out. So we are going to do dinner and a movie. But I have no clue what to wear.

I have no idea where we are going to dinner so I don't want to wear jeans. But I don't want to totally dress up and give this guy the wrong idea... (I'm not sure how much I like him yet) I thought about a skirt, but that might be too dressy. Does anyone have any ideas????

2. Ask him
"Hey, where are we going? What are you wearing? Should I be dressy?"

You'd be amazed how much we like direct communication.

Also, don't wear anything... complicated. We don't like that.

16. just like me! (only I just had my hair cut shorter)
I think camel pants and black top is a very classic look. it's not too dressy and not too casual. perfect for dinner and movie.

have fun!!

7. Ask your date. It really ticks off men when
a woman doesn't communicate.

Or worse yet, when she communicates in some obscure code known only to other women.

Speak directly, with simple statements or questions using standard English vocabulary. Code-speak is game playing of the worst kind.

8. Skirt aren't too dressy.
You can be casual in a skirt and blouse. Maybe some cropped jeans, layered tank tops, and a low heeled sandal?

17. You don't think a skirt would be too dressy? Hmmmm...
I *could* go for that... what if he shows up in jeans then...would that be cool?

27. As long as it's not a skirt-suit, skirts aren't dressy at all..

do you have a knee-length or even longer (but not full length), loose-ish skirt? Anything pencil-skirt slim will look more businesslike and formal, the looser the cut, the better & that kind of loose cut is easier to dress up or dress down. That way you don't wear hose (which just suck, in my opinion); it's modest but not too dressy at all - just feminine. Nice low-heeled sandals (no closed-toe pumps! Too businesslike, unless they're slingbacks) and a casual top and you'd be set for almost anywhere, from a diner to a nice restaurant.

And sometimes I'll throw a nicer necklace, or bracelet, or something into my purse -- something that can dress up an outfit easily but is easy to carry in case he shocks you and takes you somewhere fancy (though not too likely since you'll be going to a movie afterward).

21. For the first date, maybe.
Then you can warm things up on subsequent dates. The lukewarm pants are no-one's favourite, though.

22. oh my goodness
you ask for some sincere advice and look what you get...?

Go relatively casual 'cause it's a movie and a first experience and you don't want to overwhelm.

Don't know why I'm compelled to relate this but my mum had a joke from the 40's. Whenever she or her friends were asked, "what are you going to wear. . ?" They'd invariably respond, "My gray chiffon with the rhinestone clips." The joke has always amused me but kind of gone over my head at the same time.

They never discussed underwear.

Hope you have a great time!

25. Something sexy, but wear ugly underwear.
Make him drool, but knowing your underwear is awful could keep you from getting too carried away too quickly. O8) :P
