Thursday Night D.U.L.L. Getting To Know You Thread
Okay, fellow DULL'ers, it's time to confess all of your deepest darkest secrets. Or if you're scared that Johnny Asscrack is listening in and you don't want to go to Gitmo, not so deep and dark... we'll start with something simple, mmmkay?

Music is harmless and we all listen to it... who are you listening to tonight? Who are your favorite bands or singers? Or that all time favorite, five CD's that you'd want to have if stranded on a desert island?

Oh, and for the smartasses who will no doubt chime in and say it's a deserted island, and gee, where will we plug the stereo in... or how are we going to get batteries for our Walkmans? This is MY deserted island, dammit... batteries grow on trees

Now, fess up... go for the easy question now and prepare yourselves for later....

1. One of my favorite singers is Tracy Chapman
I just heard that she is gay. I also like Sheryl Crowe, No Doubt, 50 Cent, Ludacris, 2-Pac, Madonna, and tons of dance/techno/trance.

I cannot give you a list of my 5 fave CD's since I do not know what they would be.

I am not listening to any music now cause I am at work.

Next questions (s), please!

3. Tupac is one of my favorites
When I'm listening to rap, that is. I like just about every kind of music and right now I'm on a Manson kick, listening to a cd I burned of all of his best stuff.

I hear ya on not being able to choose five CD's, but give it a shot. We're not going to hold you to it when we kidnap you and spirit you away to our special place, really, we're not

GETTING TO KNOW YOU (Oscar Hammerstein)
from: The King and I

Anna:
It's a very ancient saying,
But a true and honest thought,
That if you become a teacher,
By your pupils you'll be taught.
As a teacher I've been learning
(You'll forgive me if I boast)
And I've now become an expert,
On the subject I like most.

Getting to know you.

Getting to know you, getting to know all about you.
Getting to like you, getting to hope you like me.
Getting to know you, putting it my way,
But nicely,
You are precisely,
My cup of tea.

All :
Getting to know you,
Getting to know all about you.
Getting to like you,
Getting to hope you like me.
Getting to know you, putting it my way,
But nicely,
You are precisely,

Anna:
My cup of tea.

All (including children):
Getting to know you,
Getting to feel free and easy.
When I am with you,
Getting to know what to say
Haven't you noticed
Suddenly I'm bright and breezy
Because of all the beautiful and new
Things I'm learning about you
Day by day.
Getting to know you,
Getting to feel free and easy.
When I am with you,
Getting to know what to say
Haven't you noticed
Suddenly I'm bright and breezy
Because of all the beautiful and new
Things I'm learning about you
Day by day.

Did you know that Tupac spelled backward is caput?

I don't know how I would live with just 5 but most would be double albums.

Blonde on Blonde-Dylan
Exile on Main St-Stones
White Album-Beatles
Other Voices Other Rooms-Nancy Griffith
Mule Variations-Tom Waits

6. First off.....those batteries are gonna be an essential item for me....
if you get my drift? ;)

Now, my five CD's would be in not necessarily this order.....

1) "Ring, Ring" by Abba

2) "Ultimate Manilow" by who else but Bazza!

3) "Vielles Chansons de France" by Nana Mouskouri

4) "Hey Good Lookin'" by Boxcar Willie and for the coup de grace......

5) "Noel" by one of my faves, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir

I bet I'll have plenty of friends on this deserted island with my choice of music, huh? :)

80. Well, you certainly walk the talk or whatever it is....
If there's two things I associate with you it's whipped cream and civility.

And they go well together, don't they?

I know I'm always extremely civil whenever I see the whipped cream whipped out. :P

83. Well, some folks are remembered for great deeds.
I suppose I'll just be content to be remembered fondly. Or is that "fondling"?

76. OK....here's mine for the deserted island.....
Sorry, I can only take four because of luggage restrictions...

1) The Marxist Minstrels.... A Handbook On Communist Subversion Of Music (An old fave of mine)

2) The Science of Sex Regeneration... "a study of the sacred laws that govern the sex forces" which will teach "how to preserve and strengthen and retain the vital powers".

3) How to Defend Yourself Against Alien Abduction... This useful book explains no less than nine different techniques for defence against abduction by aliens, whatever they may be.

4) And last but certainly not least and definitely the most important for my stay on the deserted island.....

"Maxima/Optima Air Pump Manual".... A vital tome to ensure maximum use from your Maxima/Optima Air Pump.

2) Rules for Radicals by Saul Alinsky (Someone has to protest whoever gets elected to rule the island)

3) Tao Teh Ching by Lao Tsu

umm...I don't know what else. I don't read many books more than once. I would want a journal to keep from going insane.

81. Five, huh?
Big Dog's book is at the top of my list right now, as is Hillary's... just haven't had time to get to hers.

I just read Shutter Island and was blown away, so I'd have to get another Dennis Lehane book to take along in the hopes of getting that lucky again...

More when my brain freeze diminishes....
