I just narrowly escaped widowhood...pretty scary
My hubby thought he had the flu last weekend: mild fever, slight chills, the runs, some nausea. No big whoop, right? Didn't seem to ease, so I called the clinic.
"Yup, nasty GI bug going around, sounds typical. Fluids, rest, Tylenol. Spike in fever? No? Good. Having bowel movements? Yes? Good. Keep doing what you're doing and let it run its course."

Well, a 2:30 am trip to the ER later, and turns out he had an infected anal gland that had become gangrenous, and he is in ICU with his personals flayed open. He lost part of one butt cheek, part of his scrotum, some of the tissue in between those two, had half a vasectomy (fat lot of good that does me *lol*....) and was one sick guy for a while there. He has to have some reconstructive surgery, skin grafts and whatnot, and will be totally outta commission for at least a couple of months once he is out of the hospital.
Yikes.
I Googled "Fournier's Gangrene" and about lost my lunch over some of the photos and illustrations; NOT for the squeamish!
But anyway, he is about to be moved out of ICU and his chances of survival now look pretty decent, so YAY!

I have never seen anyone get so sick so fast in my life, from typical flu symptoms to half dead in a matter of hours, holy shit, so gang, take your health seriously and if you think you have the flu and you ALSO have a pain in the ass, get it into ER like RIGHT NOW!

9. Thanks and *lol* Funny thing is, it was his ass that was my first glimpse
of him when we met, hee hee....I remember thinking, "If his face is as cute as his ass, I'm gonna go for it!" And 23 years later, here we are...

What a harrowing story! As bad as what your man went through sounds, I'm so glad it wasn't worse and that you were thinking on yr feet and got him to the clinic on time.

Are you ok? This has had to be a big stress out on you. Hope you're fine too.

Tell hubby I'm pulling for him to make a complete recovery.

Hang tough and let folks know if you need anything!

8. I hope he gets better asap
There are many diseases out there that can kill you in a hurry. Most of them are abcesses in your guts that suddenly burst causing a systemwide infection. My mother almost died of something like that once. She got better.

A terrify disease I read about once is named Suzuki disease (I think). It is a childhood fever that can kill a child in like 2 hours. The only known cure is aspirin -which cures it in short order. No other known cure. (I probably have some details wrong).

21. Just Make Sure You Tell the Horse-spittle
to properly DISPOSE of the section of asshole, portion of scrotum, chunka buttcheek and 'taint' by *incinerating* them -- or else the damn Repukes'll have a whole NEW administration to run in '08!

How excruciatingly painful! I'm happy that he received treatment quickly.

He may laugh about this in years to come, but certainly not now. YIKES!!!
