What was KISS thinking when they unmasked?
I'm watching the rerun of the 100 Greatest Hard Rock Bands, and it showed the unmasked KISS. Those are some ugly guys. Why on earth did they take those masks off to reveal that?

1. Probably something like...
"Man, this fucking sucks putting on hot make-up every damn night!"

3. Knights in Satan's Service and all that
right? It gets on my nerves when celebrities on both sides of the fence voice their opinions. I hate to think someone might feel the way they do because Britney Spears feels that way.

4. They were thinking that old Jewish women can rock, too
Have you looked at them lately? They look like old Jewish ladies! Oy! Put the makeup on again, for God's sake! You're scaring the goyim!

5. It renewed attention on them again, when it may have been lessening.
It seemed that they got a new lease on life (as a band) when they unmasked, because people were curious as to what they looked like.
That band has always been, and still is, a huge marketing machine. I'm not sure, but I think I heard that they now make a Kiss casket! (For their aging fans, I guess.)

But I do agree with you on the ug-factor.

6. Just another publicity stunt for these perpetual lamers
Followed immediately by "Lick it Up", the suckiest song EVER broadcast.

"Lick it up
Lick it up
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

These guys really do deserve to burn in Hell.

7. Back in 1978
The four original members of Kiss should have taken a ritual dive off of the Grand Canyon. This way we would not have to endure the non-maeup era, the Dynasty disco album, the reunion, the constant flood of crass merchandise, and the farewell tour which is currently on its 8th year (albeit with Eric Singer & Tommy Thayer in the Peter & Ace makup, respectively). Kiss were a joke in the 70's, but a good joke. Now they're just tired as hell.
