Headed to NYC with my sweetheart in two weeks!
To celebrate her birthday and get the heck out of here. I can already see how this is going to go:
"American Museum of Natural History!"
"No, MOMA!"
"No..."
I could be wrong though; she might want to go to the Met instead.:D

Regardless, I'm very, very, very excited. The last time I was in the area was only a few months after the towers came down and I just couldn't cope; carefully tailored my route so I wouldn't have to see the skyline. I think I'm healed enough now; I think we all have.

4. MOMA is currently under renovation and the
collections are in Queens. My recommendation is the MET. A great Byzantine exhibit is there and don't miss the Annenberg galleries with some of the prettiest impressionist paintings you ever saw. If you get a shot, right across the street is the STanhope hotel where you can sit outside, have cocktails and watch the world go by.

6. You mean the collections are in storage in Queens or on display there?
Thanks for the tip, regardless. I definitely won't miss the Byzantine exhibit at the Met; I didn't remotely do that museum justice on my previous visit, and that was untold years ago.

8. Anybody offer to sell you 'medications'? That's my main recollection
of Washington Square, admittedly 25 years ago...

10. Love is in the air
Welcome back to NYC. You should try to catch a show while you are in town. The twofers booth is on 46th and Broadway and you can get two tickets to most Broadway shows for the price of one. Across the street is the Times Square Visitors Association which has great info on shows and places to eat.

You must ge to the Met. If its a nice day, and you are a drinker, there is a great bar on the roof of the Met with views of the park.

Have fun while you are town.

11. Columbus Circle, right?
Or was that 25 years ago, too? As far as bar life goes, my main aim is to continue my quest to wrest Clarke's from the yuppies. It occurs to me too that we might not be the only rubes in from out of town on the 4th of July weekend, but indeed we intend to shoot for a Broadway show. Or maybe ballet, who knows? Heck, we live in South Carolina; just about anything is going to be an improvement!:D

13. I think they're required, along with Chinatown, Little Italy,
aforementioned museums (musea? whatever), whatever other ethnic eats occur to us, Central Park, etc. I'd shoot for a Daily Show taping, but we won't be there on one of their shooting nights.
