Poll question: Since I'll be going to hell because of lunch: Which should I have to eat?
Edited on Mon Jun-21-04 11:26 AM by LynneSin
Leviticus 11: 9-12 says:
9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:
11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.
12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

As you know, the laws of the bible said that anything from the sea with no fins or scales are an abmonation, more than likely I'll be rotting in hell for my love of those seafood.

I'm going to a top rated seafood restaurant for lunch and I'm sure whatever I choose to eat will ultimately give me a one-way ticket to hell. Help me decide what I should have from the menu

21. Leviticus also proscribes touching the skin of a pig on the Sabbath
,I do believe, so you're already going to Hell for being an Eagles fan. (But not as deep a circle of Hell as Cowboys fans, mind you!)

Mmmmmm... softshell "buster" crabs are apparently in season... but it'd be interesting to see what they'd do with cioppino, a signature San Francisco dish... do they let you have doggie bags??!!

22. The Final Verdict: Softshell crabs and Calamari for an Appetizer
The Calamari practically melted in your mouth with a breading that was every so light to the touch. I ended up getting the softshell crab but the decadant part of this lunch was the Chocolate Rasberry Truffle Cupcake.

Please, come visit me in hell. But then again if I go to an afterworld with no Robertson, Falwell, Ashcroft, etc - then I must be in heaven!!

28. This prompts an interesting question about fundies.
If they believe so strongly in following the teachings of the Bible verbatim, then why don't they observe some form of Kashrut, the way that Jews do?

I mean, this passage Lynne posted is pretty explicit: shellfish are "an abomination." How do they work around this?

30. That is the hypocrisy of Fundies
not the hypocrisy of true christians, like myself. I posted this as a mockery to Fundies who claim homosexuality is a sin because of a damn scripture in the bible (which btw, had nothing to do with sex but with some ritual that they performed for a false-god Baal) and yet these same fundies will stuff their faces full of non-fin seafood like Lobster, Crab, Shrimp, Oysters, Clams, Mussels, Crawfish, Calamari, Octopus, Catfish, geez the list goes on and on. (would frog legs and alligator be considered 'seafood' since they live in the water??)

There are old testament scriptures that give such inane laws like obtaining your slaves from neighboring countries (would Canada & Mexico Approve) and of course all that hand chopping stuff that is actually done by the Taliban (hey, their 'bible' recognizes the first 5 books of our bible too).

I always keep that scripture in Leviticus handy because when someone tells me 'Homosexuality is a sin because it's in the bible' I ask them if they like lobster, shrimp, crab, etc and 99% of the time they do. They I tell them to look up Leviticus 11: 9-12 and tell them to think again before they touch such sinful foods
