Brief Portland, OR Sunday Report

Just a couple of quick things - The Portland Pride parade was glorious - the best celebration yet, I'd say. I've been to one better such event and that was the 1987 Gay Rights march in Washington, DC, where I joined about half a million other fine folks marching down the Ave to the mall.

Dems were out in FORCE at the pride parade, Kerry stickers on everybody, and the HRC's "George W. Bush, You're Fired!" stickers. I had brought a few of my kerrygear.com buttons from the last order with me, and asked a few folks in Boxxes after the march if they wanted one - they all went immediately and people were extremely passionate about getting rid of GW Bush.

Which reminds me, Friday at noon-hour outside of Niketown, some DNCers were delighting some with their invitations of "Hi, want to help get Bush out of the White House?" I confirmed identity, then happily signed up for a $50 donation to DNC. I complimented my solicitor on her come-on: "help get Bush out." Who, beside a numbnuts, could resist?

And this morning, I saw the great Moveonpac.org ad "Failure of Leadership" a couple of times on the morning news. I am very optimistic about Kerry carrying Oregon. There is too much good energy for BushCo to stop us.

Finally, my swell wife and I celebrated our 21st shack-up anniversary last Saturday by seeing the Harry Potter movie (okay, I resisted as long as I could, but I got sucked in by the first two movies. Will never read the books, I still swear.), then by having sushi, then by seeing the Magdelyn Theatre's terrific production of "Glengarry Glen Ross". See it!
