Man Shot Over Who Was Next In Line At Cafe - Dead

FLINT - An argument about who was next in line to order food led to a Thursday morning shootout that left a Detroit man dead and three other men wounded at a north-side coney island.

The 3 a.m. slaying at Tom's Coney Cafe, 3010 N. Saginaw St., was one of several shooting incidents in the city over a 24-hour period on Wednesday and Thursday.

A local man, 33, was critically injured in a shooting about a half-hour after the coney island shootout. A suspect was arrested in that incident a few hours later.

Police said the man killed at the restaurant lived in Detroit but spent a lot of time in Flint. They had not released his name on Thursday. An autopsy was set for today at the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office in Pontiac.

Otherwise, this whole contretemps might have just ended with one guy calling the other a jerk, stewing about it for 20 minutes, then letting it go. Thankfully, everyone had guns so that a dispute about who's next in line could wind up with a morgue entry. You never know when you're going to need to defend your home from jack-booted thugs, or your place in line from some wild-eyed radical punk.
