Artimus is still kicking, he is anything but disappeared he and Mike Estes are still putting out viable music. Yes Artimus occaisonally does stuff with Skynyrd, he has written several songs recorded on Skynyrd CDs. He has his own Project called All Points Bulletin, along with Mike Estes (former Skynyrd Guitarist 1993-96)have toured recently in and recorded a live CD from Europe. He also has among other talented members of APB, a killer blues guitarist named Greg Baril. This guy is awesome, I highly recomend you check their music out before you give up on them. Seriously good jams, I live in Florida and Artimus is based out of Jacksonville. I used to live in a very small community called Cedar Key,Fl. APB used to hangout and play in a small bar there called the L&M. Its a really small layed back community, they would come there to relax and are friends with the L&M's manager. They would stay at her house, she happens to also be the best cook in Cedar Key. Artimus is a pretty down to earth person and does not act like he used to belong to one of the greatest american rock bands to ever grace a stage. If you were to ever get a chance to see them perform live you would also be glad that they have not decided to enjoy their retirement. There is still a lot of good rock and roll left in these old dudes. I have provided some links to their sites. Enjoy!

APB's Background
Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer, Artimus Pyle, started APB in 1981 after recovering from the plane crash and signed the band with MCA. After twenty years and several versions of APB, Pyle has focused his energy on music that feels right and makes him proud. Music that is soul soothing, foot stomping, & home spun.
What more could be said about Artimus that isn't already known? He is the one and only Artimus Pyle, the driving force of APB. His heart and his history are poured out on stage for every performance. He sincerely carries the torch in loving memory of his dear friends, Ronnie Van Zant, Allen Collins, Steve Gaines and Cassie Gaines, & Leon Wilkeson to help their spirits and songs they performed together, live on forever. Once you've heard APB, you'll feel better & want more.
Two early APB songs are featured on the recently released Lynyrd Skynyrd CD called "Solo Flytes". Artimus is particularly proud of this CD because he wrote "Makes More Rock". "Red Hot Light" is also featured on the CD
Greg Baril
http://www.gregbaril.com/Having opened for such greats as, Stevie Ray Vaughn, B. B. King, Muddy Waters, and Derek Trucks, Greg has stood on his own as one to be reckoned with. Whether playing before a crowd of 25 or 2500, Greg plays the blues with a style and grace that can be described anywhere from gut- wrenching, to soul searching.
Born and raised in Connecticut, Greg started playing guitar at an early age. He started out playing with local groups in his home state, playing different kinds of music. Later, as his talent and abilities matured, Greg found his heart in the blues music of the likes of Muddy Waters, T-Bone Walker, and Albert, and Freddie King. In the 80's Greg relocated to the Sunshine State and proceeded to knock the socks off the local music scene. His reputation for kick-ass blues is known all over. Definitely one of the most-underrated talents in America.
