Poll question: Prettiest actress ever
Feel free to flame me for omissions, or for picking a skin-deep topic. I know Other would win, but it was hard enough cutting to 10; I wasn't going to try to cut one more. (Taking Natalie Wood off was quite hard enough.) Just respond below with your Other choice, please.

24. Ann Margret...
what I remember of her beauty was her carriage... how she walked, how those stems carried that beautiful her around. She floatedly danced when she walked. she was a bit too sultry kitteny for my tastes, but back in the day that was what the recipe was.

can't think of her as most beautiful at all... she's like an alicia silverstone look of today, nice but not too exceptional. Auds exception was being in the right movies at the right time and being a right kind of person. Not trying to take anything away from her, but for eye candy perfection of womanly beauty, nah.

And it ain't just the bod. I can't wait for Drew to discover serious drama again. Her acting "chops" are as good as anyone's have been since her illustrious forebears drank themselves to death.

She could easily reach the status of either of the Hepburns.

I totally disagree with the poster who said she's not stunning. She has exactly the right amount of grace and beauty. I think she's clearly better than some of the ones talked about today, like Halle Berry, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Nicole Kidman.

about the state of DU's taste, very horrid indeed.

Katie Holmes is a close second of them but none of them have the kind of bodies that would warrent top 10 consideration.

I think either Rebecca Romijn Stamos or Angelina Jolie(before she got so many tattoos) or Hally Berry should be in there fo sure

No way.

Here are things actresses are really overrated for IMO:

Julia Roberts - just not very proportional

Halle Berry - has pretty perfect features, but falls a bit flat. Nothing makes her truly stand out

Cameron Diaz - not great skin

Nicole Kidman - looks a little harsh

Catherine Zeta-Jones - not much grace

Now Halle and Catherine are definitely beautiful, but they are even less sexy IMO.

since I can ever remember. She's got an ugly fake rack, an average/stubby body and she's orange all over. Not only that everything indicates she's a conceited warped bitch who only got ahead because her father is a big wig in the business. And we now know even her nipples are not attractive.

or on any college campus. I'm not calling her gross or ugly or anything, I'm calling her insanely overhyped and overrated. Undeserving of all the adulation she's getting. It truely is a manufactured tizzy partially because she's a hot 17 year old with a big rack. But it's just marketing. And when she's 25 she isn't going to crack 1 top 100 list.

If you believe Katie Holmes is prettier than Grace Kelly, that's fine. I just don't understand what led you to that conclusion.

76. Of the choices, I voted
Audrey Hepburn, though my all-time favorite is Natalie Wood. She's totally beautiful. Others I think are very attractive are Winona Ryder, Cara Buono, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Eliza Dushku, but I must admit ignorance when it comes to judging a lot of the stars from older movies. Being only twenty myself, there's a lot I haven't seen...

83. I see women every day that are prettier than those actresses
If you are judging "prettiest actress", you might as well be judging "best guitar player, ever". There are many women who are just beautiful. I guess what makes my every day women better is that I can get a smile out of them. There is a dimension you cannot get on celluloid.

"There are many women who are just beautiful." Yes, in real life, there are many that I like as much or more than ANY actress or singer I've seen. But I disagree with the rest. I don't think celebs have something missing.

89. Natalie Portman is the one I meant to put on but somehow forgot
and can't believe that it took this long for someone to mention her.

Keira is extraordinarily pretty sometimes, and sometimes just isn't. Harshness around the eyes or something; helps her become a fine actress, but kept her off this list.

We definitely don't have the same taste. I wouldn't have Roberts in my top 100. Diaz wouldn't have made the top 100, either.

My "other" choice would Racquel Welch.

105. Well the thing has 100 replies; somebody get it locked and start another
Of the people suggested above, apart from Natalie Portman, I'm also embarrassed that I didn't think of Isabelle Adjani and Gong Li. Others mentioned whom I thought worthwhile included Veronica Lake and Maureen O'Hara. Others I can't believe weren't mentioned include Sarah Miles and Olivia Hussey (What can I say? I'm a pushover for the English rose) as well as Alison Lohman, who played the young Jessica Lange in Big Fish. In general, I think a lot of people are unclear on the meaning of the word "pretty"; I mean it to connote facial features, which is why Ingrid Bergman, who was insanely beautiful but not actually pretty, didn't make the list, and why Natalie Wood, who started to go all Russian on us as she got older, fell off.

Anyway, hope everybody had fun with it. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't on everyone's Ignore list. I guess I'm not (or at least I wasn't).:D

112. I think the original board deserves one kick
It seems like Salma is the most popular at DU, and it would have been nice to see how she stacks up against the older favorites. Otherwise, it's been an interesting topic.

Not knocking anyone's taste, but it does seem like Halle Berry and Catherine Zeta-Jones are losing interest in magazines and even on Big Daddy Graham's annual Miss America poll. Big Daddy Graham is on sports radio here. Meanwhile, Salma and Katie and others are growing in recognition. But it's not just them - I feel that everyone from my whole crush list to Gwen Stefani to Janeane Garafolo to Ashanti to Karenna Gore are better than Halle and Catherine. And Audrey Hepburn has certainly endured.

119. Hmm, must be one of those things where the site refused to deliver
because of too many hits. Trust me, I waited at least five minutes three times before getting fed up each time. A 42K picture, even on Earthlink dialup, takes maybe 10 seconds. As a general rule, it's not a good idea to link to external sites unless it's your own bandwidth. Regardless, sorry to have falsely accused you.
