I'm afraid if I post this I'll be banned forever from DU
I just found out my brother waited 5 hours in line to view the Reagan casket.

Please, please I beg of you - don't ban me. I swear I'm the liberal end of the family, very liberal end!!!

Oh, yeah, HER.

On Edit:
I would have waited 5 hours, too. I wanted to be sure the bastard was really dead.

4. Wow.
Get out the hacksaw and start working on those family ties, LOL!

At least you weren't there keeping him company. Then we'd all have to mock and ridicule you forever. As it is, I think that mocking and ridicule until next Tuesday will suffice

9. He got his Social Security checks until he was 21
I got cut off at 18. (We lost our father in 1981 and Reagan made the SS cuts after my brother graduated High School).

16. My mother,
A lifelong Dem who survived the Great Depression and has an especial fondness for social programs that work, was mildly annoyed that her 'stories' got preempted for coverage, after the initial reporting and it became clear Reagan was likely to survive it.

Her attitude, after the first half-hour, was pretty much, 'well, he's obviously going to survive it, so let's get back to Guiding Light! Sheesh, how many times to we have to watch the Secret Service shove the empty suit into a limo?'

My brother, when they interrupted the soaps, said, "gee, wonder who shot Reagan?" He was completely speechless for about five minutes when it turned out somebody actually did shoot Reagan.

He, by the way, thinks all the Democratic candidates in the primary this year, with the exception of Kucinich, were too conservative, so you know where his sympathies lie.

Only my sister is on the edge in her political thought, and even she's a Dem. She's just a dem who flirts with an admiration for Zell Miller and Joe Lieberman.

.... As we now know, the former president's aides and family had devised some of the funeral settings years in advance through a secret plan they code-named Operation Serenade: the camera angles and sunset timing of the California service, the distribution of 50,000 small American flags to extras organized along the route. Such cinematic touches no doubt seemed clever when the Reaganauts first hatched them, but by the time of his death they were as dated as "Bedtime for Bonzo." ....

but not your family. Your friends still love you.

But to tell the truth, for a chance to make one last unutterable comment on the dirty bastard, I'm not certain that I wouldn't have stood in line myself.
