Most average song of all time
My vote goes to "Low" by Cracker. It's not a bad song at all, yet it's not a fantastic song, either. Somehow, though, I still hear it regularly, so it seems to pass the test of time. It's a very benign number. What do you think?

1. "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden.
Maybe it's because I heard it a gazillion times, but it seems like the ultimate generic song. The "Cream of Wheat" of music.

2. I love that song!
Maybe it's a little generic, but it's still a kick-ass rock song.

My vote goes to anything by The Vines. They're not a terrible band, just not a great band.

Sorry, I don't pay attention to the political bents of musucians, and even if one agrees with me I'm not going to like him better. The Boss is the most overrated musucian I've ever heard.

6. The Police's Entire Catalog
Not Bad, but all that great either, kinda Lukewarm. Or to quote the book of Revelations (a ripping read, would make a really fine movie, OK Mel?)

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou were cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth.

Rev 3:15-16

7. Whatever is on almost any given radio station at any given moment
for it to have made it that far it has to be stripped of any originality and anything that might be offensive to the average, mindless listener. That loverboy still gets played on radio stations across the nation is only proof that the blander the better has to be the corporate rock model.

10. Takin' Care of Business
It was *designed* to be average-- to split the difference between various hard rock groups that were hot at the time. Randy Bachman used to discuss his formulas in interviews.

Of course, that was a decade or so earlier than all these other suggestions, and it would be silly to claim that there haven't been any advances in the technology of rock-like program activities since then...
