Where should I go in New Orleans?
For any DU'ers who live in or frequent the Big Easy, I am looking for some good restaurants and drinking establishments to check out while I am there this weekend. Me and my friends are all early 20's and I am obsessed with cajun/creole.

10. Ah, the Rads -- THE band for late-night people
they don't usually go on stage at Tip's 'til midnight; plenty of time to suck back a potion or twelve

3. Mothers!
There is a restaurant there called Mother's. Hop in a cab and tell them to take you there. Don't be put off by its casual atmosphere because the food is to die for.

5. Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop is Great
One of my favorite places to drink in NO is at Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop bar. It's a rustic bar with lots of candles. Watch for pirates. =) It's located in the French Quarter on Bourbon Street.

A great place for brunch or dinner is the Court of Two Sisters. Visit their link: http://www.courtoftwosisters.com/home.htm

Try a ghost or vampire tour for some extra fun.

7. The Royal Cafe
Great food, and one of the French Quarter's best kept secrets. If you and your friends are beer fans, try the Cresent City Brewery. The addresses are: Royal Cafe @ 700 Royal St.; Cresent City Brewery @ 527 Decatur St.

These are just 2 of my stops when I go. Walk around and enjoy! :hi:

8. I love New Orleans

Been there 2x this year (long story). There are many great restaurants to be had there in the French Quarter and Garden District. I love Pere Antoines on Rue Royal, there's also Comander's Palace, Copeland's and many other small cafe's in the Garden District with easy access by trolley. Major drink establishments surrounding Burbon, take Canal Street up to Riverwalk Mall, and make sure to see St. Louis Cathedral with many good restaurants/bars surrounding the French Market. Last not least, Cafe Du Monde!

Have a good time... there's no place like it.

9. Thanks for the suggestions
Ive been once before and had a blast, but I was hoping to go to some places that werent so "touristy". When traveling, I usually find that the hole in the wall places tend to be the best.

11. Absinthe, a bar near St Louis Cathedral
they serve real Absinthe! Its expensive (7 bucks--eek) but still, they set a spoon of sugar/absinthe on fire to melt it before pouring in. and the bar itself is tiny and ooollllllddddddd. So cool.

Marie Laveaux's House of Voodoo, 739 Bourbon Street. (I checked my souvenir tee-shirt)

All of the French Quarter!!

Ooo now I'm jealous, I wanna go to New Orleans!

12. EAT ANYWHERE.
I have never been to a bad restaurant in New Orleans.

The BEST was a shrimp creole at a corner joint on the edge of the Quarter served by the GAYEST waiter I have ever met.

Of course Ralph and Cacoo's is always dependable, and there's the restaurant made famous by "The Big Easy," but I never ate there.

Bon apetite, cher.
