75-year-old walks, hitchhikes across country

June 22, 2004 (Ludington, Michigan) — Dick Dornisch is in no hurry to get to the West Coast.

The 75-year-old Pennsylvania man is walking and hitchhiking across the country. He calls it roaming.

He started his journey at the Atlantic Ocean in Asbury Park, New Jersey on May 3. He's made it about a third of the way across the country, stopping recently in Ludington, Michigan.

He says he has no timetable, no route and no cause he is walking to benefit.
