Poll question: I found a portal to another dimension under my desk. Shall I enter?

1. Will your boss miss you if you don't show up?
If you can get away with missing the meeting I say go for it.

10. no NO!! You're thinking of his fictitious character
I refer to his experience as an investigative journalist on "IN Search Of". With his wealth of knowledge he's sure to know how to proceed!

Though from what I heard, they will be divided into two movies.

Meh. I like my imagination.

25. I would say it's unfilmable, but I guess not.
It runs a risk of being lame, though. I guess they're doing all the fantasy series now, thanks to Jackson. The Narnia books are in production in NZ right now. Give 'em a couple of years and it'll be The Sword of Shannara, then an increasingly downward spiral leading to those dreadful Dungeons and Dragons knock-off books.

29. Chances are the interest in the genre will dry up quickly
Especially in America. We are a people of fleeting tastes.

And come to think of it, they've already made a Dungeons and Dragons movie...that's a scary thought.

Speaking of England, I still love the children's books by C.S. Lewis.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe has a wonderful furry portal.

I mean, I know it's on Deagol's side of the desk, but he hasn't seen it yet. I could just take it. I mean, it's my birthday. It's only fair.

Wasn't there an old Bloom County strip where a knight comes through the closet door and asks the kid if he wants to come with him?

36. I hate it when that happens...
The nice thing about the portals under my desk is that the dimensions they open up to are usually not time-linked to this one. I come back at the same time I left.

oops, now I'm picturing Malkovich and what's her name on the casting couch. Better than some of the other locations in that film!

No really, it would be cool to just appear somewhere else - we have been reading John Szieska's Timewarp Trio series with my son. Maybe you can lend out the portal.
