Update on my scary week

Yesterday I asked for your good thoughts because both my mom and my best friend were going through cancer scares. Here is an update:

My friend Sandie's 16 colon biopsies were all negative. Of course this is good news. However, she's going to lose her colon anyway because her ulcerative colitis has pretty much made mince meat out of it. She's not thrilled about having to have a bag, but she is thrilled about no more flare-ups and no more meds for her colitis.

Mom talked w/ her doctor who is setting her up to see a surgeon on July 13th. The will remove the lump from her breast and biopsy it after it is removed. The good news here is, (and I have this from a cousin who is a medical transcriptionist who types up medical records for a living) if they thought this thing could really be trouble, they wouldn't wait 3 weeks to do a biopsy--they'd do a needle aspiration biopsy on the spot.

So.... I'm feeling a little better today. I'm still saying my prayers for my loved ones, but I'm not quite as nervous about it all.

At least the news so far is relatively good. Good thoughts to your mom and friend that they will heal quickly!
