The baby food that should be banned!
Last night I tried Earth's Best "rice & lentils" with our wee lad (9 months). It has carrots and lentils in it...holy mother of mercy was the little guy gassy and crabby all night long with lots of shreaking wake-ups. My wife and I are beat.

Damn those beans. What the heck was I thinking?!??!?!?! :wtf:

2. Thanks for the heads up
With my 7mo we haven't gone too far past sweet potatoes, squash, peas and fruits. I'll know to stay away from what you mentioned. Hopefully you only bought one jar!

3. what did kid's eat before we invented babyfood in jars?
mine never got "babyfood" and no I didn't get all carried away "specially preparing" anything - just breastmilk and mushed up whatever we were eating, The oldest is 6'4" and will try anything - quite the gourmet. The younger got in a rut with a bottle for about a month and he's pickier but never fed them anything I wouldn't eat, ie overprocessed crud in a jar.

4. We do table food too
Our son has some digestive issues since his system is a little immature for his age. The pureed foods are pretty easy for him to digest (except the rice & lentils, as noted) so we stick with 'em for the most part, keeping up a wide variety. We are starting giving him some table food as well in little mushed up bits.

I don't plan on getting him in a "kid's food" rut when he's older, there no reason why kids need to be limited to chicken fingers and fries at restaurants!

5. of course follow your ped. 's advice,
but if his system is immature then stick with breastmilk - they don't need anything else. It IS the optimal full diet.
