Mother Complains About Film Shown At "Film Summer Camp" - Bare Breast
<snip>

One man's art is a protective mother's crime.

An award-winning French movie showing a woman's bare breast and a man's naked backside is at the core of a Naples Art Association controversy that led to the resignation of the teacher who showed the film after a parent filed a police complaint.

The controversy once again shines a spotlight on the NAA. Responsible for hosting monthly art fairs in downtown Naples, the 50-year-old NAA has had its share of turmoil in the past six months. Half of the art group's board recently resigned over NAA expansion plans.

Tess Twiss, 11, was enrolled in a NAA summer camp program — called "Film for the Serious Minded" — to learn about the art of movie-making. The two-week class, which began June 14, was for children ages 11 to 16.

1. Maybe it was the MOTHER's bare breast?
Maybe that's why she'd upset?

Freepers are a global phenomenon; this however seems to have happened in Naples; Florida, on your continent ;-).

BTW: Is this protectionism at work? Have a look at the international age ratings of "Amelie" (pretty much the same with any European movie):

Argentina:13 / Australia:M / Belgium:KT / Brazil:14 / Canada:14A / Canada:G (province of Quebec) / Chile:14 / Denmark:7 / Finland:K-11 / France:U / Germany:6 (bw) / Netherlands:AL / Norway:11 / Peru:14 / Portugal:M/12 / Singapore:R(A) / South Korea:15 (video rating) (cut) / South Korea:18 (uncut version) / Spain:T / Sweden:7 / Switzerland:7 (canton of Geneva) / Switzerland:7 (canton of Vaud) / UK:15 / USA:R

Edit: the ratings were converted to smilies

the article! I thought it was Naples, Italy.

Unfortunately, Naples, Florida makes way too much sense. I'm surprised the instructor hasn't been tarred and feathered.

edit: I love Amelie

5. That kid is going to see more bare breasts in one afternoon
in the girls' bathroom at the pool than she'll ever see in a lifetime of watching films.

I get a kick out of how "we're protecting the children from obscenity" when it comes to non-sexual nudity.

The girls are going to see more naked women in a year's time that most guys will see in a lifetime.

The boys, until a certain age, don't want to be bothered with it, think it's icky. (That is, unless you grew up in Europe, where it's no big deal on the beach). After a certain age, they are obsessed with trying to see naked women (again, unless you grew up in Europe).

7. exactly. the hypocrisy and aburdity of american media
and 'morality' have always caused me a bit of derision in that a breast, or the human body is taboo and yet the violence of american television is perfectly acceptable to see someone having their neck cut or otherwise killed or shot up, or blown up. So full of shit it never ceases to astound me.

10. I totally agree.........
"Amelie" is a great film! So you get to see a boob-shot. I remember the scene, it was a nice boob too.
