Edited on Thu Jun-24-04 08:27 AM by supernova
the feeling of being strung along... sorta being courted, you like them; they like you, and then ... nothing. They stop calling and won't return your calls.

You finally realize you got dumped for a prettier bauble that came along. She's got better boobs or longer legs.

I don't know what to make of it anymore. It seems like more and more of a crapshoot.

Actually when I was wee I thought people could see out of the TV, I never used to get changed in front of it.

11. I also used to think the world was black & white
until the 60s. I even asked my parents what it was like to live in a B&W world. I guess I was a special child.

12. They lived in Pleasantville, didn't they?
Looking at old family photos, I often though how boring it must have been to only wear black and white.

13. I was on the dole for 9 months,
before I got this job.

I hated it, I hated job searching most of all. People not replying or writing back saying they'll let me know & not hearing anything for weeks.

It was soul destroying.

16. Let's see.... 22 months
as of July 1.

I was a technical writer in the IT industry.... and I still put in to those jobs. Of course I'm open to any sort of writing job. I'm just not the best at selling myself.

20. I'm not good at selling myself either,
I think that had a lot to do with it.

Fucking hell! That's a long time.

Is there freelance work to be done?

What about your magnum opus? (If you have one)

17. Finding one

is like going on a blind date and discovering you were lied to about everything except the time and place.

You excuse yourself to go to the bathroom and never come back.

a lot of recruiters, sometimes what they understand about the job and pass on to you, isn't quite what the company is looking for. I discover that more than I like to admit when I go on an interview.

27. I actually did that recently
it was a lunch break and I got in my car and just kept on going and they still called me afterward wanted me to come back.

I need to update my resume and go on monster and try a little harder. I hate interviews and all the crap they put you through and then you find out it wasn't worth it.

32. I wish you luck, Supernova.
I have to get back into the workforce after a 3&1/2 year absense due to mom duties and I'm in the midst of a career change, deferred for a year to start my clinical work for nursing school (though all my other coursework is thankfully done, space was not available this Fall), I do NOT want to work in my old field, and have no idea what I'm going to do in the meantime (all with a very up in the air personal life). I just hope I can get something with decent benefits that hopefully will help in my future field of work (and I don't get whatever position because of my boobs either) that I can balance with child care needs and costs. Probably, I'll end up in some medical office or assistant thing at this point.

I wish you the best. I hope something works out for you soon. :)
